The top of the screen, where the clock/3G/mail notifications/etc are at... when you connect your Droid via the USB cable to a computer, it adds a section called "Ongoing" and an item in it is called "USB connected". Click that item and select "Mount".

Not sure, especially about iTunes (I don't use iTunes for anything aside my iPod Touch). You might run into some problems with the DRM on some of the iTunes tracks, and I'm unsure whether Droid can play the un-DRM'd ones. Someone else should know better than I.
I'm trying to figure out where the Droid will search for media files on the SD card.

This may be a silly question, but how do you close an application?
On my BB if you left an app running it would drain speed and battery life, just like the Droid. However, there doesn't seem to be a "close" function for any of the menus. Am I missing something?

You have to get a task killer app from the market. There are a couple of free ones in there.

Got one, thanks.
Does anyone think there will there ever be a way to just close out an app in the future? Seems like a weird thing to leave out...

sorry to ask....
So if I'm using google maps/nav, and then back it out... is it still running?
I notice the little satellite dish still active in the bar at top, is that my gps still running and draining battery?
I rebooted when I thought everything was closed and the dish went away.

This is because apps still run in the background, including navigator/maps. So go to the market and download "TasKiller" with the red icon, ive tested em all and its the best I've found yet! Then just run its app and click once (not a holdclick) on every program you want to end, I do this multiple times a day just to keep the phone running fast

+1, just started using it and it makes a lot of sense. Astro is another application that is a task killer and a file manager, pretty decent (except for the UI, which is kind of gaudy...)

I tried that and it never popped up. It doesn't really come as an MMS it just downloads and I save it to the phone. It has worked the same on my Blackberries and my WinMo phones so I thought it would work the same on this one as well maybe I am not holding it down long enough lol but I thought I gave it plenty of time. Thanks for your help I am sure I will figure it out after I play with it a while lol It is deffinatly a different ballgame but I like it.

I just use the side volume keys to adjust ringer volume. It hits vibrate right before silent.

Listen to Music through speaker
OK, dumb question, but when I play music it is not playing out of the speaker phone speaker. How do I get the music to play out of the speaker phone speaker?
Anyone? This is driving me insane. The sound is only coming out of the small ear speaker and not the main speaker. I can't for the life of me get the music to play out of the louder speaker.
Nevermind, I powered down and powered back up and now the speaker is working. Weird.

Yes, but depends on the App. Gmail lets you copy, but haven't figured out how to paste yet.
To copy, open keyboard and hold down shift key. Drag your finger across the text you want to copy.
You can paste it into the browser, but I can't find a way to paste into a new mail yet. Probably needs an update for that to happen.

I posted these as threads but i should have just posted here.. i know better!! haha.
anyways a few questions:
How do you take a picture from the browser and save it to your pictures or your background like you can on a PC?
How do you take a website (ie these forums) page & set it as a widget on your home screen? So when I want to go here I dont need to go to browser, favorites, ect. I can just hit the icon and poof.
god, i love this phone.

if you tap and hold on the picture you want, a menu will pop up with an option to save it.
you can put a shortcut on the home screen for a website.. just bookmark it. tap and hold anywhere on the home screen (where there isn't an icon already) and the menu to put shortcuts/widgets/folders/wallpapers will pop up.

when i try to connect to my pc, i get an error message: "windows could not load the installer for volume. contact your hardware vendor for assistance". i have downloaded the drivers from motorola.com, i'm guessing this is a windows issue?
does anyone know how to fix this? also, is it possible to transfer files via wifi? or to save mp3's from gmail? i e-mailed one to myself to try, but it only gave me the option to preview, not download.

Tv-out via audio jack?
One quick question, does the audio jack also work as tv-out? Haven't seen or heard of the droid being able to do that, but I was just wondering if anyone has tried using the audio jack for tv-out.

That doesn't have everything Advanced Task Killer would have... and advanced task killer lives up in the top bar with 3G and battery.

after downloading pandora, it would not play, I already have it online so I know my user / pass.....turned out after doing a battery pull, it started immediately and started playing......if anyone else gets hung up on this hope it helps.
Now my one question is why don't the 3 home screens go to landscape mode when you turn the phone, EVERYTHING else changes to landscape mode....and the home screens work in landscape if the keyboard is slid out or or if it is in car mode or on the media station.
why can't the home screens just got to landscape...ugh...annoyed.

Vibrate only
I got the vibrate setting one, and finally found out how to vibrate for messages, but is there any way to also turn of the APP noises. I want my phone to be silent/vibrate only, don't need all the bells and whistles.

Anyone? This is driving me insane. The sound is only coming out of the small ear speaker and not the main speaker. I can't for the life of me get the music to play out of the louder speaker.
Nevermind, I powered down and powered back up and now the speaker is working. Weird.

That happened to me once as well - clearly some sort of bug related to that...

hmmm i downloaded it but have not time to play with it cause I have to leave for work. I don't fully get it. When im at work do I need to do the gps thing? does it automatically determine when im at work or home or whatever? I almost don't want to rely on that. I would rather just be able to set "work" or "home" and it will go to vibrate all for work, and regular for home. or such things.

Yeah my Voice Guided GPS Nav & Audio Playback is ONLY coming from speakers. Resetting now, will edit this post momentarily to update whether a hard reset/battery pull is required.
