Default Hard case + Multimedia dock?

Has anyone figured out a MacGyver type way to make the BodyGlove hard case work with the Multimedia dock? I really don't want to take it back or not use my case.

Just wondering.

Default Droid does not fit multimedia dock with case..

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has/found/knows of a case that allows the droid to fit into the multimedia dock. This may be a problem motorola did not factor into the design of the dock.

Most docks don't have this design factor taken into mind though. I know with my iPod Touch, I had to take off my case whenever I wanted to use my iHome which was very annoying.

My two cents.....I bought a body glove case and it fit quite nicely, but taking it off was very problematic. The Body glove is not designed to take off on a daily basis to dock. Eventually (in my opinion) removing the Body Glove will damage the phone. When I returned the store rep told me that someone already returned a phone and case because while removing the Body Glove he broke the phone. The rep recommended a gel cover that can be removed easy (he didn't have any in stock, but offered to order one. I decided just to order a gel case off Amazon.

I agree while it fits nice it is NOT made to be removed... like.... EVER. And you can break the phone if you aren't gentle enough or do something by mistake... SNAP!!!

Talking I made My own

I had the same problem to so i decided to make my own. it's still kind ruff but with a little refining it will be great. For now though it does what it needs to. I used one of those "magic magnets" so i had to spin a bunch of time to get it right, it kept activating car mode. here are some pics, hopefully i couldn't get them to show up on the post so here is the link

I have the bodyglove case and it was a royal pain to get off the first time but after taking care not to destroy my phone I finally got it off. I found the Droid fits in the multimedia dock without back part of the case so I shaved off the tabs on it so that it would come apart easy but still stay on well. It works good for me albeit you have to open the slider just a hair.

Default Case that works with doc?

I was also thinking about getting the Media Dock today but I definitely need a case that works with it. If anyone has figured out a case that works with the dock please share the info.. As another solution someone posted an free app called DockRunner... that might be an alternative.

I'm not interested in a case that works with the dock. I'm waiting for a dock that works with my case. I have workarounds for the dock until somebody comes out with one.

I bought the home dock in the vzw store on launch day. I think the car dock is an online exclusive for now.

Default What I ended up doing..

First off I have the black plastic snap on case which is very cheap. What I ended up doing was taking off the back of the case (because I don't care if that gets scratched over time, its rubberized anyways) and left the front on. When i put my phone with the case on in the multimedia dock the front of the phone slides about a millimeter upwards (not noticeable) and the back sits perfectly in the dock. The same goes for the car dock, my phone fits perfectly in the car dock with the front of the case on but not the back. So those problems are solved until I buy the jelly case which I am hoping will work with the front only as well. Hope this helps anyone with the same problem as me.

LOL. I am going caseless for that reason. Cases/skins are a pain and nothing really works when trying to dock anyway. Plus, I love my little Droid so much I've been carrying it around like a newborn baby, you'd have to pry it out of my hands to get me to release it. Cheers!!

i noticed that as well...but for me i just keep the front body glove protection around the screen on...

my tips for removing the backing is start at the top of the phone...pry it slowly off and slide phone forward...i take mine off every night to charge it on the dock and its really easy for me to remove now... takes me 10 seconds to remove and 2 to put back on...

it's one of those magnets that you throw up in the air with another and they kind of dance.. i do not advise using them , because it has some strange magnetic properties. it not like a normal one with one side pushing and the other pulling. it was really hard to find it's happy spot.
After that picture i found a smaller magnet from the bottom of my shower curtain (about the size of a shocktart) that works, and it's smaller so I'm less worried about it screwing up the phone

Yes, the phone is still fully functional, and if you plug in the 1/8th jack to your car stereo, the voice comes right out of your speakers and the speaker phone picks up your voice, it's awesome!

there is an app that turns on the multimedia screen. it works great just like it would if it was in the home dock. I took mine back cause i didn't want to mess with taking the case off all the time. the app is called dockrunner

You don't need magnets for Car or Multimedia docking. There are apps to activate each (Car Home(native) and DockRunner(market)), then all you have to do is figure out how you want to mount them in each situation.

Exactly, thats why I got just a plain leather pouch type case that easy to take the phone out of, so I'm not breaking it out every time I want to put in the MM dock or car dock.
