Default How do I remove Visual Voicemail and its alerts

I made the upgrade to Google Voice today. But, after uninstalling Verizon's Visual Voicemail I am still getting text messages from Verizon that I have visual voicemail activity. Do I have to call them to cancel the service?

Are you using WiFi vs. the 3G connection? I think when WiFi is on, VisVM can't ping the servers, or connect for that matter, and throws the error.

I do not have the WiFi enabled. If I have uninstalled VisVM then how do I get rid of the notifications of a service I am not using?

Visual Voice Mail is a paid add on. You need to call verizon and cancel it. Then uninstall the VVM "upgrade" on the phone. The basic download icon for the app will remain but no more notifications. I did the same thing.
