Default Motorola USB Drivers or Android SDK drivers?

I ask this because every time I install the Motorola drivers I then have to immediately uninstall the annoying Motoconnect software.

So if I need adb in Windows 7 64 or in WinXP Pro can I get away with just using the USB drivers included in the Android SDK?
