Gallery might play them, but it depends on the format they are.

for example, my m4v files wont play in gallery, but they play fine in ActOne player.

what format are the vid files in?

im not entirely sure, but I dont think the droid can play divx.
one site stated

"There is no version of DivX Mobile Player available for Android. Only Windows Mobile and Symbian are currently supported."

what pc os do you have? mac or winders?

check these:

winmo - Easily convert video for your Android device with doubleTwist – Android and Me

mac - HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - Droid Handbrake settings

all free

do for sure, doubletwist works well. good alternative to itunes.

I have a mac and use handbrake, which is very simple.

if it doesnt work for you let me know and we will find a solution.

I use Astro File Explorer to launch my vids. Works great. Click on the M4V file, Open As, Video.
