I purchased an Imp500 battery charger from Imaxpower.com after trying to decide on a second battery for my Droid. They also sell on Amazon. It holds a 5000 Mah charge. I was able to get 5 full charges off the pack from a 40-50% battery remaining on the droid.

I think I made the right decision, rather than getting a second battery. I don't need to shut down to charge and the form factor of the external battery is small enough to fit in my coat pocket.

They are marketed for the iphone, but work great on both my Droid and my SO' s Eris. It came stock with a mini usb adapter and, of course, an iphone adapter. I had to request the micro usb adapter for Droid compatability. I've even used it to charge my e cig battery. Cost was a bit over fifty bucks.

I have jury duty coming up in February and expect to need it in the waiting room. It gets boring sitting there waiting to see if you get called.

Great find! I am going to be on the road for a couple of weeks in March with undetermined amounts of time in between access to A/C power. I am going to pick up the 8800 mAh pack.

How did you request the Micro USB adapter? I was looking at the imaxpower site but couldn't figure out how to ask them to include it.

OOPS! Answered my own question. After a little more searching I found this IMP006 Blackberry adapter

Sucks that you have to pay an additional $10 just for the Micro-USB tip.

I was a bit round about on that. I called and got voicemail. I didn't leave a message thinking that papal had a field to put in the request. After I ordered, I went to pay and no place to put my request. As I recall, I called again and left a message and also emailed them. They got back to me almost immediately.

They had it out to me in two days Priority mail. I was very impressed with their service. I'd make sure to contact them before ordering or it could be out the door before they know what you need.

I recently purchased the Imax IMP 500. I am getting about 2.5 re-charges when I run the Droid battery down to 15%. That seems a little low considering the Imax is 5000 mAh and the Droid battery is 1400. Has anyone else seen performance like this? Thanks.

I've been getting 5 to 6 charges from 50%, but that can depend on how much I'm using the Droid while it's charging. I've played some games that really slow down the charge and will eat up stored charge on the Imax.

I still prefer it to a second battery.

I have traded a few emails with John at Imax and decided to trade up to the next larger size charger. He has been a great guy to work with- very prompt replies to questions. If you are considering a charger I recommend checking him out.

I've been considering this recently. I just sent ThinkGeek an e-mail asking if it will supply the current that our Droids can draw (what is it, 850mA? I know it's above the standard 500mA most chargers provide). But knowing how fast ThinkGeek has replied to my e-mails in the past, I might have a new phone by the time I get a response!

i bought an IMAX imp500 battery pack and it works fine, except the adapter for my phone (Samsung Galaxy S) is too loose. does anyone know where i can get a replacement part?
