The "3" app which is a great music player to replace the stock one. Just search for RockOn to find it... but DON'T download RockOn,,, instead, download "3" which will be in the results listing. This app will also find album art for all of your music and it's free.

How does it compare to MixZing and/or TuneWiki?

I like Tune Wiki. It's a good, "all-in-one" program but it's a lot like the native media player.
I haven't tried MixZing yet.
"3" has a very unique, innovative, and "fun to use" interface that's just cool to look at. Plus, it has a very good, functional widget that looks great on the home screen.
Thanks..... been using mixzing for a long time because of the large widget, but this one looks 10 times better. The UI of this player is great. Once this player is perfected I would recommend it to all. Good loookin out.
cant seem to find it, what terms are you guys using to search for it?

Has anyone tried this with a Bluetooth deck? If so can you tell me whether the forward/back buttons on the deck control the player? This works in my car with the stock player and with MixZing, but it doesn't work with TuneWiki. Just curious.

+1, the preferences don't have an option for this like mixzing, so i'm doubting it. Might be a feature left off of the beta version.

Sorry about your album art. If you press and hold your finger on the cube, you can pick your album art based on choices from the web.
Thanks! It's not a big deal actually, I was just worried that what the player downloaded might have overwritten what I had set for the stock media player, but it didn't.
In fact, I think '3' keeps it's own album art stored in a cache or something, because the transitions between albums are so fluid.
Also, for those who haven't tried, the 'Wall' view is pretty spectacular too.
cool find! i'm liking this player. the cube is a bit sensitive but i can get used to that. i like the large widget. i don't have that much stuff on my 5 screens so now i can consolidate and dedicate one of my screens to the player, and it displays the album art! awesome.
Is there an option to stop it from using its own album art? I remember with rock on, while it didn't replace my album art, it got half of them wrong and it didn't show mine. I listen to a lot of live recordings and had custom made album art for each, so this was not what I wanted to see.
Maybe I am just old school, but I find the list view easiest to navigate. Sure the cube looks cool, but it is a lot easier searching in alphabetical order when you have a ton of albums. I know you can rotate the cube horizontally to find the letter, but I think I would still like a standard list.
The more I use this, the better I like it. I also showed an iPhone colleague of mine this interface and he was pretty surprised that an Android phone had a player this refined.
Anyways, I made a little video overview of cubed's features. Please ignore my inability to recite the alphabet, as well as my monotone voice. Heh.

If you long press the album art, it will bring up the "local" image you have. At least mine did. It also searches the net. Just select the one you want, it replaces it.
Also, in the beginning, you can choose not to look for them.

Not bad. Slick GUI. Has some bugs. I was getting some FC's sometimes when picking on an album, and at the same time the Droid would ask me which email app to set as default? Whaaa?

Its because when it FCs they want you to send an email to them, so it automatically goes to your email when it FCs, it just happened to me.
Great video, Fab. I've been using this for about a month and I didn't even know about the "wall". But then again, they just updated it a couple days ago, so I'm sure that was a part of the update.
So I really like the UI of this app, however while I was driving home from work using my MOTOROKR I found some bugs.
1. I have an album called "Singles" filled with various artists....when I tried to listen to this album and shuffle/change songs, it would change to a different album....not song.
So I went back to use mixzing for the time being....and.....
2. When I pressed the volume up button on the MOTOROKR.....'3' automatically started up. The widget was off the homescreen and the app was killed. This bascially blocks the use of any other media or radio player, because 2 songs will play at once.
Anyone else experience this? I will probably email the developer to see if he knows whats up.
i downloaded this and couldnt even get my songs to play. im not sure what happened, i selected a song from my playlists, and then it just shows me a big green album (like the error screens you see on a broken tv) and it like freezes there. i also got the strange select which email app you want to use. anyway, i uninstalled it because i couldnt even get to the cube album thing. anyone else having this problem?

I did not have any problems with this app. I am even thinking of doing a ROM change with a nandroid update. I did not do them beofre becasue most of my album art was from an app, Album Art Grabber, and I always had to reload my missing art after the update. This app finds most of the correct art really well. It even works in landscape mode. This one is a keeper. Might get rid of Meridan player.
I don't know if its because I'm overclocked but Cubed runs way better than Rock On did I'm very impressed. So smooth and quick. Still suffers from the same problem that I'm not able to browse by Artist. Huge problem for me. I have almost 13GB of my SD that's Music. The lack of being able to browse by artist completely kills this app for me, just as Rock On did for me.
Edit: I just realized if you swipe left and right on the cube it scrolls through the alphabet to jump to artists. I might give it a try see how that works. Definitely a huge learning curve to the person you just hand your phone to when you have your friend pick a song to play. Haha.

No, that shuffle what's in the queue. I want to either shuffle all songs or add all songs to the queue. I cant find a way to do either.
Try clearing your queue. I had nothing in it, and I had that shuffle turned on, and when I fast forwarded, it seemed to be just playing random songs from my entire library.
First time install had a glitch w/album art pulling, and after a while UI went away aside from controls at top/bottom - album cube was gone.
Uninstalled and reinstalled, and it downloaded album art again and has been flawless since that finished about 25 minutes ago - been using it constantly, adding/removing songs from queues, browsing heavily, playing w/the widget.
For a beta this seems to be remarkably stable once it's had a good, clean install/setup.
I'm running Taz overclock at 800 and cube scrolling is the smoothest of any app I've seen on my droid running any GUI anything like this, better by a good margin, not getting any slow-downs or glitching. Just very cool...
Queue management needs work - can't find a way to remove individual or groups of items from the queue - appears to be all or nothing.
Sorting needs to disregard "The" in artist titles - The Beatles should be under "B" not "T" IMHO. I should also admit that I always put Led Zepplin under "Z", so you may take my suggestions on alphabetizing with a grain of salt.
As noted, will be necessary to allow browsing by Artist for those w/larger collections of music.
Can't seem to FF - touching or long press on the FF button skips to the next song. Would love to have a drag bar for FF/RW when on the larger widgets and in the app.
Love how when you go to the queue it brings up the currently playing album in the background.
My teenage son, Mr. Unimpressed-I-already-own-an-iTouch said "Wow!" when he saw and played with this app. Never got a "Wow" out of him w/anything else I've showed him on the Droid, aside from Google Sky Maps.
This music app provides a really cool UI that is very usable and easy to quickly understand...a winnah in the making.

When you're in the app, at the bottom, where the title of the song is playing, you should see the progress bar (a bunch of dots). You can drag that to FF

Perfect!
Thanks for pointing that out - I missed it - my not so great eyes didn't pick that subtlety up. Wonder if he can add that to the widget...
Anyone else seeing that the playlist doesn't clear after playing? I went to bed listening to a bunch of music I'd queued up, and when I got up this AM, the music I had already listened to was still in the queue and wanted to play again. Anyone seen that happen?
