Default Armband for Droid finally coming?

After looking at Verizon store, Best Buy, Target, and Dicks sporing goods... A salesperson at a Verizon Kiosk at the mall told me that Verizon is designing an armband for the Droid that should be available this spring.

I looked through all the threads here, as well as at all the stores listed, and cannot find one that fits the Droid. Many different Iphone armbands are just a bit too small and do not fit the Droid.

+1.

Although, you need to make sure it's not wrapped too tight. Gotta keep that circulation going.

Also, any hair on your arm is going to come off when you're done. Not pleasant.

I could go for a good armband, thanks for the heads up.

It is evident anyone looking for an armband wants to exercise. I picked up one from Fry's electronics that was for an iPhone that works well with my Droid. Its good to know that one specifically for the Droid is coming. Hopefully before 2.1.

iphone and droid are pretty much the same size. Using an iphone case for my droid, same logic should apply to arm bands

If the armband comes out this year, it will be out before 2.1.

Because a droid is just too heavy. Tried running with one in your pocket? I sure would like to put all the droid's features to good use running, but can't. It's not a huge deal now, as there is 2 feet of snow on the ground, but come spring...

Do you know how heavy the droid is? That is just asking for the boys down below to get crushed when running.

I have posted a link before but there is an armband called Tune Belt that seems to have good reviews and advertises as fitting the Droid.
http://www.amazon.com/Tune-Belt-Armband-iPhone-Blackberry/dp/B002NL2WYQ

Update: It's now offered on Amazon and is only $15 (it was $20 before). I don't have it yet, but I am going to order one now.

I'd be interested in one, but I'm afraid my twig arms wouldn't be able to support the weight.

I'm using a generic elastic/velcro arm band I got for free at a balloon festival last year. They're so stretchy that they fit almost any device.

The thing is... after trying so many different armbands at so many different stores, I'm reluctant to try anything sight unseen. Especially ordering off the internet something that claims "also can fit the Droid."

I ordered this one on ebay for 10.00 bucks.

I purchased an Xtreme MAc armband for the iPhone at Fry's Electronics and it supports the Droid. I tried an inexpensive one from Ebay and it wound up ripping after a workout becuase of my guns. Here is a link for the band Sportwrap for iPhone 3GS - Black: XtremeMac
I also paired my droid with these bluetooth headphones. IMO they are better than the Motorola S9 Rocketfish - Rocketfish? Bluetooth High-Definition Stereo Headphones for Most Bluetooth-Enabled Devices - Black

I found them for $10 used on Amazon and they are the shiznits.

I bought this one as well, and the droid fits perfectly. I use bluetooth headphones, but the headphone jack on the Droid matches a hole on the armband. The screen works just fine through the plastic/whatever it is.

It worked best for me to put the phone in right-side up, but then put it on my arm so the opening of the case is facing up. This prevents it from falling out (it fits snug but I don't want to take any chances), and I find it easier to read the screen from this position.

I just have to say, thank goodness they're finally coming out with a proper arm band. As someone who works out of the house, I prefer to spend the day free and easy with no clothes on, but since I got my droid, my desire to be connected 24/7 has left me forced to wear sweatpants with a pocket to hold my dear droid on me at all times. This is indeed a tragedy, and an unanticipated consequence of our new hyper connected world. I will no longer bow down to our pocketed overlords. My boys will be free once again.

Praise be to the all powerful spaghetti monster.

Google SPI belt. Keeps my droid snug around the waist.

I've been running with my Droid in my pocket, but I started to get worried about jostling it around too much, so I tried wrapping it in a sock. Then I just looked like a moron with a giant sock ball bouncing around in my pocket when I ran.

I have been jogging the past few months with my Droid in this DLO armband for Zune HD. It fits the phone perfectly

Thanks. I have one I've been using from my old ipod photo. It zips in, the fit is a bit tight, but there is no way to see screen. Now I'll have to see if there's a Zune bike mount sturdy enough for mountainbiking.

Hopefully this armband will be big enough that your normal case can stay on. I hate the ipod touch arm band because in order to use it you must remove the protective sleeve that you have on it.

I picked up one of these yesterday. How hard did you have to shove to get it to fit? There's no freaking way it will fit in the one I got. Same sku and everything. Taking it back today. I tried a case for the iPod touch as well, same problem, just won't fit.

Actually, it was supposed to drop yesterday at 12 Noon, but then Verizon pulled it from the shipping trucks because there was a bug in the armband (probably something small, like an ant or something). However, a small "test group" of people actually did get the armband. But no release date has been set for the DROID armband.

I'm one of the armband test group people. I can post the armband file online if you want. However, I am at work right now and can't do it from here.

Mine fitted like a glove the first time. It was slightly tight but the material was stretchy. After a couple of times, it loosened enough that I could slide it in with minimum effort.

I went out today and purchased the Sportwrap by ExtremeMac. You can find some more info here @ Sportwrap for iPhone 3GS - Black: XtremeMac.

I took some pics to show you how it fits. I think it fits quite well. The screen is still very responsive while it is in the case.

Just a warning about the extrememac:

Iphones are almost the same size as a droid. Almost. I've had one for a few months now and I was reasonably happy until today. Mostly I'd been snowshoeing in the dim winter evenings. But today I ran in the bright sunlight. I think because of the slightly different shape, the clear part bubbles up ever so slightly off the screen. The screen is also matte not perfectly clear. I couldn't see a thing. Nothing. That's my only complaint with it. But I'm going to look into the official droid armband because I had to stop and take the thing off my arm to fast forward in Pandora.

You must have gotten lucky. The one I got was about a quarter inch too narrow to even fit the phone in. If the whole phone was as wide as the screen it would have fit okay.

Are you able to run with the ExtremeMac? Does it stay firmly in place?

Verizon is designing an armband for the Droid that should be available this spring.
Anyone seen anything about this? Googled droid armband but it just comes up with the usual suspects.

Sorry I missed this earlier TDyrden (Fight Club?). Yes it does stay in place well. I don't have to mess with it at all.

Lil E:

The droid does not have a hard drive in it at all - it stores its music on the micro SD card.

all these designs are way to bulky. Always have been with that huge thick strap, way to much material, often those loop back through the plastic to pull snug systems, velcro.. blah blah

we need Nike to release one like this for the Droid as these are and work awesome! I have one for an iPod of mine. Snug, sized, minimal material, no bulk, stretches, dries fast.

I use a "Tune Belt" brand arm band. Not perfect but it does the job. I'd prefer something waterproof so that I could run in the rain safely with my Droid.

So when is the armband going to debut??????? I need one so I can use my calorie counter app. and when I am working out at the gym. What's the point of all these apps if you can't use them properly without an armband?
