Check it out! He's going to be making some bad **s ROM's soon! I might have to switch from Sholes! Especially with what is going on with their girl fights..

I, for one, am not interested in these files in their stock form. However, when they find themselves in the Beast or in SholesMod, well, then they'll truly be put to good use.
Not too worried about the apps, they're probably the same as the ones we've had for months.
I think that the system files will be optimized for Droid/OMAP, so that when the devs start building ROMs based on these files, it will be even faster than they are now
Undoubtedly. That plus the fact that there may be a system tweak here or there (or all through out the OS) that will allow for much better integration with the DROID's hardware....
If it even enables the wireless FM I'll be happy - but if it also allows use of the 1271 to start using Wireless N I'll be ecstatic....
That current last post in that thread has something interesting to say....

2.1 OTA for Droid leak
I won't be checking it out, but here is the link for all you fearless. I'll wait for root. Not sure how official that is, until he posts a video. I'll wait with bated breath, although not really.
Well, the post I quoted in Pete just got the OFFICIAL 2.1 Dump!! seems to indicate that it doesn't since Pete states that BB 0.7.6 has everything this dump has and more - and BB doesn't have flash.

Correct me if I am wrong but I do not believe they pulled out to add flash...they pulled out cuz of bugs..something tells me it was so they could block root access somehow like they did with the milestone...if this is the case I am going to be pissed (well I probs just won't update)
EDIT: I am just speculating as to why they pulled it...I am NOT giving facts

Also, the 'bugs' that birdman (Sholes team member) were refering to were security holes that could be exploited for root access, at least to the extent of my understanding of his post in Pete's thread.
So it's actually nice that we have this 'older' version of the 2.1 OTA update, since it still has a hole that we can gain root access with.
The current roms we have now based on 2.0.1 are really all I need. With the 2.1 apps added, it pretty much covers all the nice little upgrades, aside from a few system tweaks that noone really knows for sure how much of a benefit they will be yet. The thing I am looking forward to are the custom roms that come out with flash support, until then it's pretty much the same ol thing.
I tried it, a little buggy and no bluetooth. Went back to BB7.6@1200

Unfortunately, SholesMod doesn't exist anymore. The team had some falling out about money and split up. As I read it, all but one of them have regrouped and are trying to get back up and running as DroidMod. They claim that they will be back up and running in a few days. If you'll search the Market you'll find that SM Updater is no longer there, they said that it will be "updated" to a new name and should update existing installs when it hits. So now instead of the next incarnation of the SholesMod series, we will be looking for DroidMod 1.0.0??
I know this is a bit off-topic, but I noticed a lot of folks anticipating a new SholesMod. There is a description of what happened on Droid Forum and the new group already has a new website up and running droidmod.org.

Just so everyone knows Pete told me he is going to be working hard on getting a ROM out ASAP.

So, ... hypothetically speaking, if 2.1 looks the same as 2.0.1 but performance is incredible, would you still think there's no point of getting it?
no, i'm rooted and overclocked to 1.2 right now, I have live wallpaper, 5 homescreeen without luncher, phone is working really good, until I'm able to keep what I have now why would I change? Go back to 3 homescreen? Loose live wallpaper (even if I don't use I know in case I want to use it, I have it) Unless I see a good benefit I wont, at least not right now

Hmm...Maybe I am a bit confused. I could have sworn that the BB 2.1 release was based off of a Nexus One image of 2.1. I thought he said in the thread that there currently was no rom for the 2.1 Droid dump he has. Can someone clear this up for me?

I think your correct. That is not based off the dump he just got

yeah, i am sticking with 2.0.1 for quite a while. not until something good comes out that really wows me will i switch. and when we get flash, pete will put it in a beast.
According to Matt (the moderator over at the Moto Droid forum), the version of 2.1 that is running on Pete's video is not the offical Moto 2.1:

I have posted on a couple of threads that the video from Pete is not the real deal -- that's a fact. He's just stirring the pot. I am reasonably certain that no one has the Motorola update for the Droid outside of the company. (Of course, Boy Genius seems to know everything so I guess you can never be sure...)
I think the video IS the real deal. You are full of it.
Wow, so sensitive. I never said it wasn't the real thing. I just passed along some information from a guy who works at Motorola because I thought it was interesting. You can choose to believe it or not. It won't hurt my feelings if you don't.

No ones feelings were hurt but Pete is the man. He has probly put more hours into developing than motorola. Well let's hope not...
Anyways. The reason i think Matt said that is because Moto is changing the Droid's 2.1 from what the original release was supposed to be (the one Pete got his hands on)
The Motorola Droid - the first ever Verizon Android Phone - exploded onto the mobile market with an incredibly successful ad campaign that brough Android to the masses. With a huge and vibrant touchscreen, solid metal body, full QWERTY keyboard, 5M... Read More
