Default Gelaskins for the Droid

http://www.gelaskins.com/catalog.php?DeviceID=73&CategoryID=56

sorry if this was asked before but has anyone tried these out yet? are they any good? worth the money? hows the material? is it rubbery? do they add bulk? is it easy to apply? does it peel/fall off?

they look pretty interesting from a couple of demo vids i saw on youtube. not sure how they feel in the hand though.

They really look nice but I don't understand how they cover the front? Don't you need to be able to see the front? I'd love to give it a try but I need to understand that bit first.
Never mind. I see that it is a wallpaper now. Still would like to see how it is installed on the Droid with its more complex back than the, ahem! iphone. Wonder how hard it would be to make it look nice. And does it peel? That would be bad.

So much for the Droid not being a “Tiara Wearing, Digitally Clueless, Beauty Pageant Queen”

You can get a more basic version (no wallpaper, less pieces) with literally any art you want on it - from their site, or from a pic you upload.

What interests me is the fact that the skin seems to cover the soft buttons - I wonder if they could still work with the skin covering them.

I did mycgelaskin with a custom grapic i designed. As for the buttons, they work just fine. The light even shines through them when they light up

Why wouldn't they? They work with screen protectors covering them.

I don't know. I believe that true beauty is on the inside, which is why I'm not an enormous iphone fan. It's not so much that I don't appreciate the way Apple lays their stuff out; I just prefer being able to lay my stuff out the way I want to. Closed systems just don't give you much (as Anne of Green Gables would say) "scope for imagination." That, and there is only so much functionality I'm prepared to sacrifice for aesthetics.

That's what I love about the Droid. It's much easier to take its insides and make it not objectively pretty, but beautiful to you, which to my mind is much more important. The fact that I'm an unrepentant tech junkie who loves multitasking has only...ok well a hefty amount in truth...but still only something, not everything to do with why I got the phone.

That being said, there is nothing in this world that states that just because something is beautiful on the outside that it can't still be awesome on the inside. I think skins like this just enhance the individuality that attracted me to the Droid in the first place. As long as form does not impede function, then let that form have the function of pleasing the owner, be it a brawny, sharp edged, monochromatic, sleek design or be it a softened, ornamented, colorful and fancy.

I guess in the end what we have is (to carry the original metaphor out) maybe not the tiara-wearing beauty pageant queen but rather the brainy, sarcastic girl who comes into her own style, perhaps never conventionally pretty, but always beautiful.
