I don't know. I believe that true beauty is on the inside, which is why I'm not an enormous iphone fan. It's not so much that I don't appreciate the way Apple lays their stuff out; I just prefer being able to lay my stuff out the way
I want to. Closed systems just don't give you much (as Anne of Green Gables would say) "scope for imagination." That, and there is only so much functionality I'm prepared to sacrifice for aesthetics.
That's what I love about the Droid. It's much easier to take its insides and make it not objectively pretty, but beautiful to
you, which to my mind is much more important. The fact that I'm an unrepentant tech junkie who loves multitasking has only...ok well a hefty amount in truth...but still only something, not everything to do with why I got the phone.
That being said, there is nothing in this world that states that just because something is beautiful on the outside that it can't still be awesome on the inside. I think skins like this just enhance the individuality that attracted me to the Droid in the first place. As long as form does not impede function, then let that form have the function of pleasing the owner, be it a brawny, sharp edged, monochromatic, sleek design or be it a softened, ornamented, colorful and fancy.
I guess in the end what we have is (to carry the original metaphor out) maybe not the tiara-wearing beauty pageant queen but rather the brainy, sarcastic girl who comes into her own style, perhaps never conventionally pretty, but always beautiful.
