Yeah, the new installer didn't do squat for me... but I don't care. I don't mind switching keyboards back and forth real quick... I can't use my thumbs to type anymore after having used Swype almost exclusively for weeks now.
The latest version that got installed is 1.25.16.5652.t100
At some point over the weekend the installer went from 40kb to 42kb and this version number came with it. I have the same version and the switching keyboards tip is what works for now.
thanks,
J.

Well they have closed the official beta release. Of course the creeps are perfectly happy to take your info before telling you this. Damn...
The reason they are taking your info is that if they open the Beta back up then those that have already tried to sign up will probably get first dibs. Calling them creeps, however, is rather low, considering you're now on a nice waiting list.

They already knew the demand was there b/c they have released it with T-Mobile, and are looking to expand their market.
I'd rather see them just release it as a Market app, but I bet even money that they'll charge like $10 for it....
So now that they disabled the swype feature, how do I get it back? I can't pay for it? I can't download a different beta?
wtf? If there is no way to continue using swype and I uninstall it I will no way install it again for $. That's a terrible buisness model.
You can/should be able to get swype back if you still have the beta installed. Just make sure both swype and stock keyboard are enabled in setting>keyboard. In any program tap and hold till you get the input menu. Pick stock keyboard. Then do it again and pick swype, now swype should work again.
Hope that helps.

Downloaded, installed, when I open it, it says it's not licensed and to fix "press disable swype" 1. uncheck the box next to swype and this is where i get hung up, when i hit disable, it goes to a screen where it allows me to select language, and text settings, but I do not see a box to uncheck swype? Something I am missing?

If all else fails you should be able to go to your language and keyboard settings and uncheck swype that way then go back to the installer to get the license.
That's the thing, I go to language and keyboard, I have select language, and under text settings I have swype settings and touch input, nothing to uncheck here. I can post an image later if needed.
I would uninstall swype and the swype installer then try to reinstall. Also it looks like you deleted the stock keyboard for your phone.
I just downloaded what was emailed to me, which is the installer, and when I run that, it comes up with the message to disable swype to register. I don't see swype as even being installed in apps, just the installer.

You may how to do a factory reset in order to get that swype version off. Have you tried an app called quick uninstaller to see if it can remove it. Also, is it possible that at one time you installed it as a system file if you're rooted?

I haven't tried quick uninstaller as it doesn't even show it being installed, and it's not rooted and this is my first time trying the beta.
Nm, it was listed under "all apps" under manage applications, but i "cleared data"
I guess Ill wipe the phone later, I don't really want too, but I may have too

I don't think the EVO came with it. That is odd then if you're not rooted and it is somehow in the system/apps. Maybe post in the EVO section for help.

Correct. This is for Motorola DROIDs, not HTC phones. As such, any advice you find in here is probably not going to be applicable to your phone as they are very different phones.
The Motorola Droid - the first ever Verizon Android Phone - exploded onto the mobile market with an incredibly successful ad campaign that brough Android to the masses. With a huge and vibrant touchscreen, solid metal body, full QWERTY keyboard, 5M... Read More
