Unhappy We need a better facebook app.

How come the facebook app for Iphone has a chat feature, and we get

left out in the cold. I think facebook should give us this feature .

Bloo, another facebook app is supposed to get the chat feature in there next update. I agree that the native facebook app is severly lacking features when compared to the iphone app. it needs to be updated badly. If you need facebook chat for now, there are other options ebuddy and the new aim ap both support it

But there are still no good all in one facebook apps ... i mean, the official one generally doesn't even view photos .. it just brings up a browser and the mobile site. It's a joke.

BLOO is a very good FB alternative. the stock FB app sucks, i totally agree, i only use it about 5% of the time~ mostly as a shortcut to the mobile site if i need something that bloo cant do.. neither allow you to compose an inbox message. but thats something that FB itself wont allow for whatever reason.. i wonder why IPHONE IS ALLOWED TO USE IT THOUGH??!!??
Bloo gives comment and picture comment notifications. tho right now, that has a bug (was supposed to be fixed in last update, but isnt much better) where it keeps notifying you for the same comment a few times. at least you get a notification though..!

MEEBO is good for chat. i dont leave it on all day, only when i want to chat. it TOTALLY EATS your battery staying on! unless you are at a desk where you can keep a charge, i wouldnt recommend keeping it open all day!
whats nice about meebo, is it uses aim ,google talk, FB, msn, yahoo, myspace and a few others all combined, so you dont have to have a bunch of chat programs all running separately.

babbler views photos nicely. if they could combine all of the features of bloo & babbler and skin it nicely like the stock app i'd be happy.

It's just not something I would expect on a Android device,

I would expect this type of lame app on something like a BB or winmo

phone. The Iphones is flashy and it works. I don't own a Iphone, but I do

have a Ipod touch, I just think that facebook should treat our OS the same.

All you gonna do is get yourself more pissed if you keep comparing the two markets. Alot of apps fall short of there apple counterparts.

You also have to realize that the Apple market has been around a lot longer than the Android Market. You're not comparing Apples to Apples (To quote Rob / Phases, <-- Did you see what I did there! :-) ), so to expect the results to be the same is rather pointless.

They had the facebook ap up and running near perfection within months of their iphone being released. There is no excuse for such a poor facebook app other than the obvious. Even when there main developer left cause he got sick of apples control, someone else picked it up and continued its development.

Guys,

I don't mean to compare the two, I am not really "Pissed" either.

I feel like some of these app makers don't think Android is just as powerful

as the Iphone OS, which is complete BS. So that's all guys, not mad just disappointed.

I agree there are more pressing issues to be mad about. But disappointment is putting it lightly for me. Lol. We just have to site and wait for further development at some point.

It doesn't even need comparing to the iPhone app. It sucks all by itself.
And it's nothing to do with wanting more features - the "features" that are there don't even work.

I end up using it as a portal to the website. Lame. More than lame.

Guys - I checked out Bloo, and...it just directs you to touch.facebook.com (!?!) What's the point?

Although it did give me status bar notifications which was great.

A little searching will allow you to realize the fact that the Android Facebook is not produced or supported by Facebook. Only "official" Facebook apps are allowed to send and receive "inbox" messages. Since the Android app is not official. It will Never be able to do it unless Facebook changes the policy. From what i hear, Facebook and Google are not the greatest friends to say the least. So, don't expect any changes in the policy. If ya want something far and above the android app get "bloo".

root your phone, erase the app bloo is getting better and better it seems and if you want updates from any of the facebook apps, send updates to gmail and then go into apps on facebook and find the ones that run on android and check them, they will be there if you allowed it to access FB at all.

The new Bloo takes you to the touch site, so it no longer can get the code. However, the developer put a link up on his blog for it that will get you the code in your browser, then just enter it into Bloo.

please this might be a lil bit off the topic, but any help will be nice. what do I need to do or change to have my txt msg from displaying on the screen page. I would like to have control of when to open it rather than just showed up on the screen with the msg showing. I do not mind the scrolling of the message one on top but the display on the middle of the screen
Thanks

There is a FB widget. Long press your home screen, select widgets, select FB.
I've found it's very slow to update though...

Give it time. We're only on Android 2.1...iPhone's got a few years on the Android devices...but we're growing fast fast fast. Better apps are in development.

If you bought a phone simply because of the facebook app, then you bought the wrong phone. meanwhile, go use google gestures, google goggles, google translate, google voice, unrestricted app development and what not on your iPhone. trust me, facebook's web site is fine for now. hell, the droid just came out a bit over 3 months ago.

Make sure you have room on the screen. When you long press be sure to select widgets, not applications. Then, when you select FB it should load the widget, it shows the last 4 status updates.

the 2.1 update (whenever that is) is supposed to have pinch to zoom.
but if you use the DOLPHIN browser, that has pinch to zoom anyway, so just download DOLPHIN browser

Menu-settings-sync. Add facebook account-sign in. Manual sync and all will be good.

Thanks dougwilson2000, however I have tried several times even with the techinician on the phone, we cant never get the pfbk to sync, done couple of factort reset and just tire of it now and this is why I am hoping that I can find any apps on the market to do it for me.
Thanks
This is what I ahev been doing sinces: Menu-settings-accts& synch, the auto synch is enabled, and then click on the facebk icon to synch but always getting an error msg that synch is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.
I hope these steps are what you mean by manual?

When I had my sync problem (red error), I. Deleted my account (fb) and re instated the account. It worked right away. I must have had a corrupt link, I guess but it worked.
Your situation is exactly like mine was and yes those were the steps I was referring to so try deleting the account and then add it again. Oh restart after you delete, before you add it again. Those were my steps, not sure if restartt is needed but I did do it.

I am confused. Why do you have fb apps from the market to sync contacts? Droid does it stock. Dump all fb apps except stock and try again. Hell apps are free.
Uninstall all fb apps except stock, deletee fb account, reboot and add fb account to sync. Mine is working great, so you must have a bad app that you downloaded.
I use pombook to sync pics between fb and my phone. I have just these two apps for fb.

My .02 I don't like the facebook app either. I tried bloo and can't seem to get it to work it never accepts the code it gives me I would like to see a better app The app on BB was much better and that surprises me very much.

AIM has facebook integration as well as an app for android. You can get the AIM app from the market, log in, and now you have facebook chat. You just have to make sure you connect your facebook with your AIM account on your home computer or wherever it is.
