For those of you switching between launchers, get Home Switcher from the market - it's free, and will show you all installed home screens and allow you to set/change default and launch whichever one you want.

I love this launcher. its so clean and my favorite is the icons on the bottom which now give me 4 extra slots on the screen to use for more widgets. i also like the double tap and you get the mini card screens to select. looks super clean!
I applied the helix launcher and it constantly forceclosed looped on me!! I had to do a complete wipe of my phone to get my phone to work again!! Not worth the headache!!
Any way to get bettercut shortcuts on this homescreen? I keep making shortcuts in bettercut and it justs puts them on my original homescreen. No idea how to get em on the Helix screen.
Goon55.... I might be wrong but I think they are referring to the magic smoke Live wallpaper and it and all the live papers have worked on my non rooted stock 2.0.1 version of my n1.

I only got one stupid question. What is sense ui scrolling.
I have this with dxtop and home switcher so far no problems setting both up how ever i want. I mean you could have one set for "work" mode and another for "home" mode and switch between them.
And if you are having FC make sure you dont use the Helix2 its for the N1. (just in case you did not know)

... and someone asked about Better Cut. You must create the shortcut with Better Cut, and edit it while you are there - don't create it first and then try and edit it, it will create duplicates.
And also remember that any shortcut you create with Better Cut will be added to the default "home" screen too - so I just go into "Home" afterwards and delete those extra shortcuts.
I am running helix launcher on a rooted droid running DM 1.0. The launcher has been very smooth for me and I haven't had any FCs. I think it is a great launcher and the speed is very impressive.
The only minor bug I have noticed is that my 4 quick launch shortcuts swap sides when I rotate into landscape mode (someone else posted this as well) which is a minor annoyance but not a big deal.
I have had no problem with putting better cut shortcuts on my helix launcher home screen. I have helix set as the default home and I just long press on the helix launcher home screen, choose add shortcut then bettercut etc. and they appear with no problem (it also makes a shortcut on my original homescreen but that is fine with me since I don't use it anyway). Maybe Helix Launcher needs to be set as default to add better cut shortcuts.
Also if you really want to get crazy with it you can make folder shortcuts with app organizer or folder organizer and then drag them to your quick launch bar allowing you to open an entire folder of apps with one of the 4 buttons.
It's been a couple hours now since I installed it and so far so good; I'm impressed with the speed of it and having a dock at the bottom again. It's a nice feature that I wasn't able to have on the stock home screen since all the other home replacement options like GDE, home+++, dxtop, etc. always gave me epic lag and FC's like crazy.

hey thanks, how did you get them to work? They dont work on the stock 2.0 droid right?

Um you could have easily uninstalled it and reinstalled. There are some issues that are fixed if u do a fresh install. You could have booted your phone while pressing the menu key on the hardware keyboard, which would boot safe mode, and it would go to default homescreen, and then you could uninstall it.

thnx a lot. I was actually thinking about this earlier wondering if there was an app that would do this.
Im not rooted, installed helix, got it all set to how i wanted, and realized i wanted just 4 home screens, not 5~ so when i cut it down to 4~ thats when it went into a FC loop. reboot, same thing.. i uninstalled. will reinstall and set up again later today~ i really liked the quick launch bar at the bottom! and it didnt lag. only had it set up for about 2 hrs before i messed with the screens
one QUESTION i have ~ once i get helix home all set up with widgets, is is better on battery/phone speed to get rid of widgets on stock home? or does it not make a difference ?
also, there is no way to contact dev's besides setting up an account on that forum. i find that odd. usually they want feedback.
So has anyone else seen this problem where if you update the number of screens that it sends the launcher into crazy mode? I haven't updated mine since I prefer the 3 screens like I mentioned before but just curious if this could be a potential bigger problem or just isolated to a few random cases?

As per the warning when you go to change number of screens, you need to delete the stuff on the screens if you are downsizing.
But because of all the people doing it anyway and have FC problems, the new 1.3 version fixes that "issue". But 1.3 is only in the "donate" area at the moment, so it should be on the Market tomorrow or maybe later today.
And for those asking about contacting the dev, just join xda-dev. That's a must have site anyway - at least for anyone who is a modder/tweaker.
Indeed, I found that out the hard way in the past when I would switch up to various home replacement apps; to always make sure you clear off your default home screen first.

what happends when you dont clear your default home screen? what about the left/right screens

Nothing happens if you don't clear your default Home launcher. That is a different app. The only issue (which is no longer an issue in 1.3) is when decreasing number of homescreens when using Helix (it would cause an error when a page was dropped, yet there were shortcuts on that page, you know?).
can you take a screenshot with helix? i liked that feature of home++
ive got it up and running again.. not gonna mess with the # of screens. so far so good!
menu goes all the way up and you cant slide it back down, you have to press back or home.
no 3d app drawr (its 50/50 with me)
The new 1.3 update gives you the option to have the handle to drag it back down, or to have the extra row or shortcuts visible (drawer goes fullscreen) and no handle.
For people wanting the 3d app drawer (Launcher2), currently the only "real" solution for the Droid is to use the cyanogenmod.

the market only has 1.2
it says it has live wallpapers, is that only supported for root until tomorrow?
Nothing to do with "root", but the 1.3 is in the donate area until he pushes it to the Market. I assume later today or tomorrow morning, not sure of the dev's schedule.
EDIT: lwp only work with the ese53 build of the Droid (and any of the 2.1 custom rom's that specifically say they have lwp working).
i had some FC'ing last night, i just installed for the first time rooted and ultimate droid w/ helix launcher OH MY GOD I LOVE IT!! lol but then i just read about 2.1 haha, but as for FCing it would happen when i made a shortcut to a contact, i would open the contact from the screen, then went to edit the contact that way "photo to be exact" went to crop it and click save and it would FC, but this could also be the 2.1 gallery causing this, i tried to edit the picture through the contacts menu and it worked fine. so i took the photo off and tried again from the shortcut and it worked, so idk a glitch or somthing?
Yeah, but I've tried Home++ and though it has lots of features, it added bugs and lag. Or at least it didn't seem as smooth as the default launcher. I'm sure it is a great program and the dev put a lot of work into it. But when I get one FC or other such error, I stop using that app or whatever - so the couple of times I tried Home++ I always went back rather quickly after a quirk or two rubbed me the wrong way. So for a non-bloated replacement home that works good, this is it.
home+++, dxtop, GDE, they all have more features and yes alot of them are better. My only issue with all those is the epic lag they caused me and also all the FC's. I went back to stock after trying them all and was quite content but now that Helix is here and so far working great, I'm very happy with the new results.
If I could get dxtop to work right, I'd still be with them but the problems it caused didn't outweigh the features for me I've never rooted, so I'm looking forward to 2.1 for some additional features which hopefully include live wallpapers.
I've read a couple of posts here and there about shorter battery life. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any reason why it would affect the battery?

It seemed to be a shorter battery life, but I also experienced a rise in temp (1st time ever reaching 105+deg).
Personally, I did not feel it was a smooth as Home++ (transitions between home screens - even without livewallpaper). I switched back to Home++ for now.
