It's *#*#2432546#*#* and it checks for all updates, as stated. I just tried it and it works, it found three updates in my market.

I caught on to the prick part. Not so much the friendliness of it, though...

That's correct. As soon as I get the update.zip and put it on my servers, I'll post my guide on how to install it.

If you get the update.zip that VZW is sending out right now and apply the update manually, you will not receive an Over The Air update from them as you will have already updated to the latest software.

Hate to be a downer but... What if these "lucky" 1000 droid users that receive the update now, are not even droid users, just verizon employees across the country putting 2.1 on their display models???!?!?! and the additional 9,000 tonight/tomorrow are just the other "lucky" stores to get them?

That would suck :-)

Statistically what are the chances someone on the board gets it today?

im thinkin the first 1000 went out to all verizon employees like someone said...cuz that way they could find out if there were issues with the update rather than the public calling and bitching to customer service

Graz, too true. I am returning to my happy world of 2.0.1 knowing that when/if I want to root and overclock, those options have been here all along and may not ever exist on future Androids..

All right, I'm seriously switching to the N1 as soon as it's available on Verizon, maybe then I can get updates straight from Google, and not have to wait through all this bs. DON'T TELL US THEY'RE COMING OUT!!! Just send them out and we'll all be happy to get it, no letdowns.

Well, unless your hosting account can handle the massive amount of bandwidth that would be use from everyone and their mom's downloading this file, I would suggest setting up a paypal donation account and ask for donations.

But that is just me.

Default Delayed? O NOES!!!!

I want my 2.1 right now, bugs and all. :-)

After trying HelixLauncher and realizing how much I was in denial about dxtop's lag, I've just finished recatagorizing all my apps once again (Folder Manager, strong, gotta have those catagorized folders that dxtop did so nicely) and am loving the lagfree screenswitching.

Can't wait to see what breaks and what is better in 2.1.

(oh, and everyone must try Dialer One. Great phone front end and t9 filtering. Hope it doesn't break)

* * *

So, the vigil begins. How long will it take? What else shall we do in the meantime? Didn't somebody say something about basketball or something?

Go Cornell! Rah.

Hey guys, first post here on these forums. I too am patiently waiting for 2.1. Very patiently now that I come to think of it lol, it's been a long time coming. I'm praying that hopefully one of the first 1000 people to receive the update are smart enough to save the file.

If the update.zip does leak, will updating require anything other than the actual phone? I'm not at home right now and don't have my own computer or anything so I was just wondering if I could get 2.1 as soon as it leaks.
