Would have been nice if they gave a little background info...Like "This is a beta version from VZW, will not be released to net" or something along those lines...

A guy at DF asked P3Droid (it's his vid) when a Rom would be out. He said he hopes by next week after they strip out moto tracking and kill a few bugs...

Take it with a grain of salt though, as it's just a forum post...

I'm wondering if they will get it out in a timely matter now...The latest info about Droid 2 or whatever it's going to be called is that it is to run 2.2. If they release that phone soon, they may hold off on the Droid to give the new phone a leg up...That is all speculation though...

If Droid 2 is close, look for all of Verizon's effort to be on that, and not on getting this out for the Droid.

However, hopefully the two devices are close enough that going from D2 to D will be easy...

You really think Droid 2 is close? Don't you think that they would try and release the Droid 2 around November so use original Droid adopters can get it with an annual upgrade?

It'll be out this summer. Some are saying as early as Father's day, though I suspect more like August.

Is it just me, or am i the only one who dislikes the name "Droid 2" or any "sequel" for a device or object? It really bugs me that a name is speculated to be so uncreative as that.

i.e. LG EnV 2, EnV 3, blah, blah. I liked how it went from V to EnV, but anything after that seemed very gimmicky. We don't have cars going from MR2 to MR3, Gallardo to Gallardo 2, etc. Leave the sequels to movies.

I figured there's nothing else to add to a thread about 2.2 since it's all speculation anyways...

I like the Droid 2, it shows that it is a direct relative to the Droid. Also its just a name, who cares?

As for 2.2, this look so fast and awesome!

I'm still pissed that they took out Wireless Tether with no proper explanation. Not that it matters, I'm almost certain Koush and Cyanogen will be working on putting it back in, but why make everyone's life more difficult and make them carry a wire around to tether to one device when you could let them tether to 8 devices wirelessly?

I see your point, but don't know why you're sorry? LOL. I still stand by my opinion. I guess I just didn't like how LG seemed to get lazy with their naming after the EnV. I'm also surprised you missed Mitsubishi's Lancer Evo III-X.

Kinda why I think the "sequel" thing is a bad idea. Ford probably did too.

Because most of us here are of the male gender, and cars and males normally go hand in hand. Jay Leno owns an airplane hanger full of cars.

Seriously though, I don't think I've seen the other car threads - I think I'll go scour the forums now.

To be fair, the MR2 was called that because it's mid-engine, rear wheel drive (commonly shortened to MR) with a 2 liter engine.

Maybe they could take their "Droid" licensing from LucasFilm even further and call it the R2 or the R2D2 lol.

Yeah, but I frequent plenty of other forums where the vast majority of the users are male and I never see this many threads about cars! Look around; there are plenty (actually there used to be. I haven't seen as many lately) of threads where it goes completely off-topic because of something random and the next thing you know it's a car thread.

RX-8 was a fail, and I've heard that Mazda has been thinking of reviving the RX-7.

Yes, I understand the MR2 is a Midship Runabout, 2 seater. That definitely doesn't not make sense to call it a MR3, unless they make it like the McLaren F1 with 3 seats.

Lol, shadow I think this has half turned into a car thread.

Edit: Forgot about the R2D2 part. nstalion your thinking is what I like and would be pretty awesome to do some kind of naming scheme like that.

So you're saying P3Droid said next week, or that someone else said P3Droid said that.

The former, if I can see it w/my own eyes, would get me excited - P3Droid is reliable, kernel dev. If it was only the latter, someone else claiming he said something...likely fail.

Anyone have a link to P3Droid saying next week?

The former, if I can see it w/my own eyes, would get me excited - P3Droid is reliable, kernel dev. If it was only the latter, someone else claiming he said something...likely fail.

Anyone have a link to P3Droid saying next week?
That quote is earlier on in the following thread...I'm not sure at this point if the test build (which is what P3 has) will be released...There is the following comment form the Admin at DF about it, and more if you continue to read the thread...

Now that im finally near a PC to post. Droidforums would like to thank MDW in a big way and P3 as well. I spoke with him early this morning and I can tell you this is a legit build but not a release build. It is not ported and some stuff has been left out in order to protect the innocent and thier job!

If and when a releae build comes available we hope P3 and MDW will share with DF and our members like they have today! Thanks again and enjoy more videos will come im sure
From Earlier in the thread (Page 4)....

I just asked P3Droid when it will be released and he told me that it will be released when the motorola tracking has been removed and the bugs from removing it have been fixed. Hopefully we'll see a rom sometime this week

Again, I hope P3 will release a build if he is able to strip out the Moto Identifiers as to the source....But I did state above to take it with a grain of salt...

Maybe they could take their "Droid" licensing from LucasFilm even further and call it the R2 or the R2D2 lol.
