Default New to electrify

I had a samsung mesmerize, until a few days ago it decided to jump in the brook while i was fishing. I bought an electrify yesterday. I love it so far, just a few things that are irritating me. First is texting. Above the keyboard shows words matching what ive typed, but it wont auto correct me on them, just shows them and i can click if i want. for example simple things like tje would be corrected to the on my samsung. I cant find this in messaging options. Also it puts in random words sometimes when i do a double space after a word for a period. For example i just sent a text saying ' thats okay. Ill get it after. ' i had previously sent a text saying 'okay we will go' so now every time i double space after the word okay it puts the word we after it. And it happens to alot of other words, not just in texts but even typimg this out...
The other thing is the wallpaper. I have the phone set up with only one home screen, none to swipe to side to side. When i pick a picture for a background it crops it to fit 3 screens. So because i only have one the ends are cut off. On my samsing i could choose single wallpaper and it would change the crop shape to fit one page. Amy way i can do this?
