Default Memory & Task Manager Issues

I am a complete newbie. I have a Flipside. I was having issues with the low memory too. I got a larger memory card and it still didn't solve it. Restarting the phone sometimes works. I haven't bought any apps. So when i had a low memory the task Manager popped up. i din't know much about it but I clicked on something to do with data. Now I keep getting a notification saying "task manager 100% cpu" What is that? What do i do? I open it and it says it is computing and then stops.

Welcome to the Android Forums!

First off there are two kinds of memory in your phone, internal and external. The SD card you replaced was external memory... the error message most likely indicated a shortage of internal memory.

To resolve you can try booting into your phones recovery menu, if it supports this, and clear cache on the phone. Another thing that might help is to uninstall any apps that you don't regularly use.

As for the task manager message, it sounds like you've got a misbehaving app... Maybe a factory reset would be worth considering to eliminate this problem and help clean up internal memory. Downside is that a factory reset will wipe your phone clean...

I reset my phone to factory settings. Go to an AT&T store and they can save all your info/contacts prior to reset and the reload the info for you. Another way to always have your contacts and calendar is to sync the GMAIL with your phone. Then, no matter what happens, your contacts and calendar will always be available and automatically download onto your phone. Also, any apps you have downloaded are stored in the Marketplace under "My Apps". Just go there and re-install the ones you want.

I had the same issue with 2 of these phones. A factory reset solved it temporarily but within a month the issue returned. Finally ATT replaced them both under warranty and so far the problem has nto surface with the replacement units.

I downloaded Advanced task manager (free app) and that has helped a ton on battery life.
