Welcome to the forums!!!
When you say locked out do you mean you forgot your password to unlock the phone? After so many failed attempts it locked you out?
Under menu / settings / security there should be a menu for Password protect, or security lockscreen or something along those lines. If you uncheck this you should be able to just swipe to unlock your phone without a password.
I can't remember what the exact menu choices are for Eclair, which, I think, that phone is running.
