Yeah, I'm in the North-West. I've been through all the KB and language settings, but can't see a way to correct it. The on-screen KB also only has a $ on it.
Szadzik...where did you get you're from? I got mine from Expansys. I've sent an email to Moto too and put it on Expansys site to see if they know. Seems like a European setting missing as the Euro button is not being recognised either.
Dunjamon - we both may have misread that. Szadzik has a Milestone 1, not a Milestone 2. There is as you say a mapping gone awry somewhere in the Milestone 2 firmware.
In response to your email, we would like to inform you, that to select the "£" from the keyboard, please press Alt+$ and all the currency symbols will appear on the screen. On the touchscreen keyboard tap and hold the $ and again all the currency symbols will appear on the screen.

I knew this already...but surely £ & Euro should be default on all European handsets?
Definitely a bug, the EURO sign on my physical keyboard (top left button) gives no symbol when pressed, only a space/tab. The Alt + POUND combination throws in an DOLLAR sign.
I hope this will be addressed in a software update soon.
EDIT: This happens regardless of local settings, i.e. UK or US.

In response to your email, we would like to inform you, that the phone works as designed. There is no setting that can change this function. Regarding the physical keyboard, the Euro button (top left) is the tab key. The currency symbols are on "D" key.

"Regarding the £-issue we would like to inform you that this issue will be resolved in a future Software update. Thank you very much for highlighting"
While I'm posting I want to ask about a couple of other issues I've seen and see if anyone has also experienced them.
Calendar Widget: Never moves on. Always stays at the time/appointments that were current when I added it. This is showing a Google Calendar account and a calendar synched from MS Exchange. The calendar application itself syncs fine.
Picassa: Now, I have added my picassa account to Blur and using the 'Quick Upload' in the gallery will send a picture to picassa. However, the 'normal' share in the gallery doesn't work. If I either choose a single photo, or do a multiple select and then Share --> Picassa I get the normal picassa upload dialogue, but my album names aren't populated (although my username is visible) and when i hit upload i get something along the lines of "failed to retrieve account details".
Anyway, if anyone has seen either of those let me know.
I've never used the Calender Widget, I use Pure Grid Calender instead.
Not sure if this is linked, but I have the opposite issue with Facebook. Will upload fine through the app, but quick upload via Blur and it fails to send and shows the same error you are getting.
Thanks to Szadzik for this ..... hold Alt+£ and a display pops up enabling you to select a variety of currency characters (the same answer as for my ÄäÖö question).
Yaays, that would seem to be the elementary logic. We'd get well pissed off (no pun intended) if the sign on the door to the Gents led us into the Ladies! Well the women would be!
That's what moto told me when I was trying to explain to them that the way the physical KB is laid out, I shouldn't have to do this. Suppose we'll just have to wait for an update for an actual fix.

There will be no fix. Special characters are entered like that and that is the way it is gonna stay. Whoever was talking about 'fixing' it with an update was just trying to avoid saying they dd not know.

How do you come by this Szadzik? It's interesting and weird.
Why have Motorola made the keyboard with the "£" sign on it? Is it just for marketing, to make us believe that the device is configured for the UK market?

Haha, neither. I am sitting at work with my desktop screen, keyboard, mouse and my laptop, which is pretty far away from my hands so I often make spelling mistakes.
The Motorola Milestone 2 is the European Version of the Motorola Droid 2. The biggest differences are that this phone runs on a GSM network. It runs Android with MOTOBLUR, but so does the Motorola DROID 2 on Verizon.
