Happy motoblur question

hi! im new with android, a few days ago i bought a milestone 2, what i'm trying to figure out is the motoblur feature.
i understand its the GUI-widget-customization or wathever you wanna call of motorola for their andoid phones, is it correct?
the second thing im trying to understand is this, if ive added my facebook-twitter account for example in motoblur, do i also need the facebook-twitter app to post content? or with the facebook-motoblur account is possible? this is also what i want to know to receive notifications, who handles notifications in the status bar motoblur or the facebook-twitter app?

thanks a lot for your time and i hope you could help me to figure this out
