Well I picked up a cheapy leather pouch style case for my Milestone on ebay, unfortunately its one of those ones with the magnetic flap which seems to be sensitive enough to trigger the magnets used for detecting if the phone is in a multimedia station or a car dock. If I put the phone into the case top first, it shows 'connecting to multimedia station' in the notifications panel, if I put it in the other way it launches the 'moto car home' app (even if the phone is locked and screen off, it launches, turns on the screen and unlocks it).
So the question is, whats the best case that works and won't cause issues? Telus so far doesn't have any actually stocked that I've found, and the one they list on the site looks suspiciously like the one I got. I'd prefer one with a belt clip but its not essential.
Shall you don't use the dock, you could choose some silicon/plastic cases from your local detailers. It's up to your perference. Make sure that you could flip your keyboard out and all buttons/camera could be operated properly.
Shall you use Milestone with media station, you need choose InvisibleShield, which won't affect your Milestone injected into the dock.

Do yourself a favor and do not use the invisible shield on the screen. I have had 2 other invisible shields 1 on my Dream and 1 on my magic. Those were fantastic. But the one for the droid/milestone i just installed today and its horrible. Degraded the touch sensitivity immensely and feels horrible to the touch. It feels like a different plastic.
Also the cut out of this one was pretty bad. Im leaving it on for now but i am ordering a mirror screen shield and installing it as soon as i receive it
I use the HTC G1 case and I'm really pleased with it. If it helps anyone I've attached some pics of it with the Milestone.
And I agree with Brendanmurphy about the Invisible Shield. It makes the touchscreen harder to use and I also found it effected the clarity of the screen too, so I've removed it. Would not recommend .
I've had it for less than a week and the bit that snaps onto the screen has already wedged itself loose and won't snap back on again. I got it as a quick (and cheap) solution after dropping my Milestone and afraid of doing it again based on how clumsy I am. However, it really wasn't worth the money. And it actually looks a lot cheaper and is a lot more bulky in person than it does on the site.
I'm wondering now if I should just have a case to slide the phone into. Still not sure. I am definitely interested in hearing others people's opinions and experiences though.

The red is a bit deeper than in the picture, and I really like the pull tab. It was exactly the kind of thing I wanted and it works really well for me. That guy has a black one up on there too for all you fellas out there :P
It's not the most stylish case out there, but if you are from Canada at Zellars they sell a cheap nylon/pleather velcro case for $10.

Just picked up the otter case for about $40. http://www.otterbox.com
Great case, fits perfectly.
No beltclip, rubber lining, hard plastic shell
Screen protector included.

I picked up a cheapo clear case on Fleabay. Moulding was a bit ropey in terms of the clasps which cling onto the phone were a bit roughly finished (not on inside, but on the outside - causing the various clasps to scrape against the keyboard and the back of the screen when slid out), but 5 minutes with sandpaper and I was set. I don't need heavy-duty protection, just something that protects against the occasional contact that the phone might have against bits of metal etc but can be used without removing it from the case. The otterbox looks good, and if this case proves easily breakable (at the moment it doesn't look like it) I will likely go for that.
For those who're saying they don't need cases: Thing is with properly made phones like the Milestone and many Nokias (and definitely unlike the iPhones), they'll likely tolerate at least a year of use uncased without looking too secondhand if you're not too rough on them. But in fact, if you look - you'll notice areas of wear. I'd rather be able to sell it on or give it away when I'm done with this phone in near-pristine condition.
I wish there was a case that would allow me to put the phone in the car dock and the home dock without removing it. I do alot of driving and removing/installing the phone into the case 20 times a day is a chore.
Saying that, 6 months on mine has no marks/scratches on the screen, but the metal around the edges is showing signs of wear.
I vote for NO CASE, but a screen protector and holster instead!
Pros:
- Protects it when you're not using it.
- Easy to take phone out and throw in a dock.
- No annoying body case getting in the way and possibly blocking the mic.
- Very snug fit.
- Low cost.
- Speaker not covered.
- Thin

Check out my above post. A holster would be perfect for you. You can just leave the holster on your belt.
I;m using Otterbox for my Milestone. Well, it fits the phone perfectly, it even has some rubber lids for the 3,5 mm jack and the micro usb slot. bottom case was made from rubber and has a hard shell plastic on the outerside. So the phone won't be scratched. The upper case made from plastic and also fits the phone perfetly. It comes with the screen guard. The screen guard does not affect the screen sensitivity at all. It's just great.
I've had the phone for four months or so, I keep it in my jeans or in my messenger bag, and there isn't a single scratch.
Lol funny you say that... I thought the same since I came from an iPhone.. I had the 1st gen 3G and 3GS. The first two not a scratch on the screen.. When I upgraded to the 3gs I noticed the screen felt a lot nicer to touch then the 3G but i had scratches the first week... Then I got a milestone and there's quite a large scratch on the front and I have no idea where that came from. Also. My camera button was gold and is now white... All thte paint came off...
im getting the seidio innocase! im waiting for it to arrive, anyone have word on it?
I have one! Makes the phone thicker but it looks damm cool with no branding anywhere makes it look like a prototype of some sort lol but don't keep removing and putting back on the case as mine snapped in half and I had to get another one..
I got this from one of the shops. It's not 'designed' for milestone, but does fit snugly inside its zip pouch, has a front additional pocket. It has 'strap' for belt and also a a 'hiking' metal snap hook. (Am not sure how 'strong' is the hook but it works for day to day use). I could help check if its still available and buy this if anyone is interested.
USD10 (not inclusive shipping from Malaysia to buyer)
ps- I pictures are of the one I have been using for a few months now.
The otter box case is the best! I got to see them today and I will get mine on Monday. The case rocks and comes with a custom screen protector. I sold a guy a milestone yesterday and comes in and the screen is already scratched lol! I was like wow you scratched it already and he said the boys were playing with it. So when I put the otter box case on for him and put the screen protector on it he will be better off. I dont know how in that video it dont scratch the screen when you do that with the key. On the other hand I used mine for quite some time with out a screen protector and I never got scratched other then the outside casing that is metal. I will post pictures soon with the other box case around it and screen protector. It looks sexy for sure!
I now have the case on my phone and have not been let down one bit. It's the commuter case and it rocks! I will buy the defender one when it comes out! Otterbox cases are just awesome for all phones. I would recommend them for any phone you buy!
PS The top cover slides with ease and does not drag across the keys like most other cases!!!

The Otter Box for the Milestone was the first case I bought when I first got my phone...the first time I dropped it, the top cover shattered into 7 pieces. I don't recommend it....

The case has a 1 year warranty? Why don't you take it back? This guy came in with a Otterbox for his iPhone and dropped it out of a truck going 110 down the highway... The phone was shattered into a billion pieces but the case was fine. Otterbox replaced his phone. I would never go with any other case. They claim you can drive over it! lol I wouldn't want to try maybe with a old phone I will one day
Otterbox will be the only case I will ever buy again!
Otterbox looks really cool, but does anybody know about something that would perform as good, but available in UK?
I was having a nap on the couch in the lunch room, and my phone was on my lap but of course forgot. When my lunch was over I got up and the phone fell off my lap and I stepped on it. I thought for sure that it was toast but no the case protected it fine. Otterbox is the way to go for all your case needs!
I have the same Otterbox... or had it. 3 weeks in, the ring around the screen snapped when I slid it open? I treat this thing with a ton of respect, don't trash on it never dropped it etc. Disappointed.
I am however stoked that there is an over the counter warranty for a year, no questions asked. Sadly they are on Back-order...so I wait. Honestly, up until it snapped, it has been stellar, and I reccoment it to all. Comes with a screen protector that works like a charm.

That's odd I've sold over 10 of those cases and not one has had a problem like that. Seems wierd that it would snap off opening it? Either is was defective or you could of put it on wrong, but I've noticed on mine from putting it on and taking it off one of the clips wore down but seems to still hold on tight! Yes that over the counter warrenty for a year is great! No questions asked we will just DOA it right on the spot and your up and rolling again with a new cover!
Why would I want to get a case? I think cases always degrade the look of the phone.
Also, the screen is genuinely scratch resistant.
My last mobile survived 3 out of 4 crash landings on a concrete floor. It was scratch resistant too . Milestone is a bit to expensive for me to test it that way, i need something to protect it from accidents and dirty fingers.
Hey guy's i am new here and new to the Android scene, after reading all these reviews i made the leap and decided to go with just the clip and a screen protector. I found the clip and screen protector from this site. I think it was worth the price?
