Default Google Maps - can you center your location?

I just tested out Google Maps with GPS enabled... it correctly displays my blue dot as to where I am, but I've noticed I have to manually scroll the map when I "drive off of it". Obviously, that's not an option while driving.

Does anyone know of a setting that will allow my dot/location to remain centered in the screen while the map scrolls ?

You want the screen to follow your dot as you drive when your just in the Maps mode, and not navigation mode right?

All you have to do is hit the menu key, then choose "My Location". It will follow you, but the trick is, if you touch the screen again to move the map it stops auto-following until you choose the "My Location" button again.

That worked for me, on my Droid, but I would imagine it works for anyone with Google Maps.

Hope that helps!

the show my location button is the correct method to do this but yeah, touching the screen again will break the command and give you just static map again.
