Verizon’s “XFON” Likely the XT1060, Also Runs a Snapdragon S4 Dual-core MSM8960 – Droid Life

Quote:
According to an .ini file pulled from leaked Motorola USB drivers, the XT1058 will be accompanied by a device XT1060, which appears to be the CDMA variant of the XFON. The .ini file lists out chipsets and models numbers for devices to be picked up when using Motorola’s RSD lite application. For the XT1060 we’re seeing a chipset labeled “MSM8960CDMA,” a Snapdragon 4 Pro dual-core variant, similar to what we saw in the benchmark for the XT1058. We’re assuming it’s the Pro here clocked at 1.7GHz with the Adreno 320 GPU, and not the lower-regular version with the Adreno 225 GPU.

Sure, it's vaporware. FOR NOW.

But I'm hedging my bet that by fall, this X-phone will either be a fall/winter flagship knockout phone or another disappointment like the once-fabled Stratosphere. Only time will tell, but this is where the rumors get collected and we'll keep plowing along

After all the hype I say the phone will be a let down. Hope not though.

Well, unless it prints money and grants three wishes, there is no way it will live up to the standard we've created for it in our minds and blogs. I truly don't expect customizations, 20 colors or a wood case: but I sincerely believe that Googorola has a wonder of a phone up its collective sleeve.

Whether it will be what we now know as the X, or something else in the pipeline, remains to be seen. But there is no doubt in my mind that by the time Galaxy Nexus early adopters are ready for a new superphone, it will drop. On Verizon's CDMA network.

And it will be amazing.

Does this make it official now?

Verizon’s Motorola XFON Hits the FCC as Model XT1060 – Droid Life

it is compatible with NFC. Model number of unpublished terminal XT1060 is a (model number). I have adopted the 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Version Android is in the OS. Chipset is equipped with a (APQ8064T) Qualcomm Snapdragon 600. The CPU is a 1.7GHz quad-core operating frequency. Display has been found that the resolution becomes (720 * 1280) HD. (from a Japanese blog)

http://ameblo.jp/povtc/entry-11537484707.html

After looking through the FCC papers the only thing I noticed was Bluetooth 4.0 and pretty much everything else made no sense to me. There was the standard letter of confidentiality and a list of vague features. Oh. And test complete date was April 30.

And I just noticed this: This product utilizes an internal battery that is not removable.

(Partially) vindicated! Now to see how "epic" this phone will turn out to be. And the state of the bootloader.

I'd have been suspicious if it were otherwise: Moto have been like that for a while.

Well Snap 600 is an up-to-date chipset, and if it is "only" 720p the smaller number of pixels to push around would have advantages. Availability outside the US has been a weakness for Moto lately - obviously this particular model is US-specific, but I'm hoping that GSM variants won't be.

Because of a non removable, If it doesn't have a Maxx battery then I'm not interested. Still thinking of going with the S4? If I stick with my Nexus then I'm either buying a spare battery or the one that turns my phone into a brick. I already bought the extended battery and it is about as good as the original was now.

With all these X phones showing up at the FCC you would think there is an announcement soon? Or at least more solid info..

Why is a removable battery important? (genuine question)
I figure (for me, that is) if the battery starts degrading, I can use my portable battery charger. Yes, that just makes me carry more stuff.. But I don't think it's too bad. I only carry the portable battery charger when I know I'll be using the phone heavily, or the chance of getting to a wall station or car charger is unlikely.

one reason I figured a removable battery could be needed is if the OS locks up and becomes unresponsive, and pulling the battery is a remaining option..

Unfortunately, the reports and rumors I see elsewhere seem more and more consistent with the XFon/Project Ghost offering something very marginal in specifications. I'd love to have a Motorola that is a Quantum-leap ahead of my Droid Bionic, but I may very well be getting a Galaxy S4 Dev Edition later this summer. Definitely not leaving VzW, because their coverage can't be beat in my experience (had AT&T before).

Really, something at a "power" level between an s3 and s4 that sips from a huge battery and a camera good enough to replace a point and shoot works for me. All phones now a day have enough power to play all media. My gnex has no lag except when using chrome.

Gamers, not me on a phone, may want more.

The better question is, why is it important for it NOT to be removable?

A non-removable battery allows for a special sealant that protects against water damage. Like the Droid RAZR HD. Which supposedly can take a glass of water poured over it, with out damage. (Not a dunking though)

It also allows the device to be made thinner, although I am happy with a device twice the thickness of current phones. I cannot stand how thin they are these days...

So here's the question.

Now that it's "official" we have a little bit of "official" information about the phone. It has sensors that will tell it where it is and what you're doing, contextual awareness. It will be better at battery consumption, more durable, things consumers worry about. And we know there is a prototype hiding in Dennis Woodside's pocket that as of press date, he's NOT showing off.

Now, over the months leading up to this revelation, speculation and conjecture have been running wild. Everything from octo-core to dual core processors, heck I have heard multiple processors. We have been teased with metal, wood and carbon casings.

Since we now KNOW what we KNOW, can we assume some of the other rumors were true as well? Early on in the process the contextually aware phone that's durable and long lasting was what we expected, along with a form factor not unlike what we have come to expect from Moto in recent offerings. Can we also assume it will be a power house spec wise since that was the initial rumor as well?

What do you guys think?
Personally, I'd like to see the return of the fingerprint scanner, but I know that's a pipe dream.

I'm currently carrying Razr HD and happy with its battery life, build, radio, audio quality. But there are two big letdowns, UI lag and camera. After jelly bean update, the UI lag is just horrendous. So I put Apex launcher, disabled bloats and tweaked animation rate in developer setting to reduce lags, but still it stutters here and there everyday. And its camera is just hopelessly poor compared to HTC, Samsung.

Moto X phone sounds intriguing to me but I am not sure if I will try another Moto if they don't make it at least half good as HTC One, GS4 cameras and fluid UI.

Default Really looking forward to Moto X

The name kinda sounds like a motorcross event or videogame.

I'm currently using the DROID RAZR M, and I like it a lot. It has been the one Android phone that has given me the fewest issues and annoyances. So I'm really looking forward to see what Motorola will come up with next.

I will get the version that has the big battery. I am very impressed with how Motorola squeezed in a 3300mAh battery into a relatively thin package of the RAZR HD MAXX. That makes me disappointed in other manufacturers for not making a phone like that with the excuse of trying to keep their phones thin.

I really wanted the HTC ONE based on its looks and the front facing speakers, but I think Moto X will be worth the wait. Moto X will most likely be my next phone.

I'm intrigued by the Moto X but not really in a hurry to give up my Galaxy Nexus so I'm going to patiently wait. This is the longest I've had a phone without itching for a new one.

I haven't had a Moto device since the Droid X so I'm unaware if the weak ringer volume has been fixed .

Having played with the S4, I really don't see myself waiting for Moto to get its act together. Will likely purchase the Dev Edition when Verizon gets it (though I wish they'd get the GED instead). If Moto released a comparably high-end device to coincide with Samsung & HTC, I'd be way more receptive. I'm just going to give my Bionic one more month of heavy use, then retain it as a backup device.

Just give me a waterproof stock Android phone with the Nexus guarantee. That's all I want.

I have the RAZR hd, the ring volume is fine but the notification tones are lacking in volume unless you use the Droid one....

Moto X phone sounds intriguing to me but I am not sure if I will try another Moto if they don't make it at least half good as HTC One, GS4 cameras and fluid UI.
Screw that, this thing needs to blow the one and even the s4 out of the water if moto wants to remain one of the big boys.

You mean beating One and GS4 in camera? I hope I'm wrong but I'm not holding breadth on that given their record with phone camera. One and GS4 cameras are even edging out iPhone 5 camera.

Also by the time Moto X comes out, HTC T6, Samsung Note 3, LG G2 will come with even more powerful spec than One, S4. So besides their traditional strong points (build, battery life, radio) and some advanced smart-action features, will Moto X be able to hold up with them to remain competitive in the market?

God i hope so....I've been a moto guy since the og Droid but I'm growing increasingly jealous of the htc and Samsung phones....this phone needs to compete with them in ALL aspects or i may be jumping ship!

I love my N4, but one thing I don't like is its fragility. Big money, big money, indestructible phone, no wammies!

The camera would be better if they made the sensor larger instead of increasing the megapixels... Something they could do if they stopped trying to make it thinner...

Hey: look what happened while I stepped out... we got our own forum!

But the SPECS on this thing??? Seriously? I am really hoping that those are for a second-tier phone in the X line and not the flagship killer phone that Motorola desperately needs to stay alive. This needs to be the stuff of legend... much like the OG Droid was, much like the Galaxy Nexus was. And the RAZR Max HD, which is admittedly a very capable phone.

I'm serious, Moto, and I know someone there is reading this: make it epic or most of us are skipping it. I already have dual core. Nexus 5 and Note III are around the bend, and Moto has to make this phone awesome.
