No, it fits but the plug is too far away and doesn't make good contact if you have the Holster Back cover on the Photon and the Car Dock has that insert in it. I take out the insert and the Photon with the holster back cover fits fine, makes contact and activates the Car doc app.
As for the holster. I too am not fond of holsters, but I am really digging this one. Not only does it protect the Photon and its screen but can be used with it attached on both the car dock and the HD Webtop dock.

Pics please.
As for the Car dock itself, my only issue with it is that it keeps popping off the dashboard, but thats due to the curvature of the dashboard on my car, there really isn't any flat area in my car.

Here are some pics of what comes in the Motorola Photon specific Car Dock and HD Station boxes:
- My impression compared to the HTC EVO 4G car dock. It's better prepared overall to offer up a good experience for a phone specific car dock. I wish they designed it so that the charging port is on the base of the dock, like HTC, so that when you swivel the phone from side to side, it doesn't move the charging chord. Nontheless, it still a very nice looking phone specific dock and I personally feel like it was worth the money I spent, especially with the 25% off.
- Impression: It seems pretty cool. Not sure how much I'll end up using it in th end, but glad I got it with the 25% premiere discount. The fact that it has a remote control gives it a definite 1-up on the original EVO dock.
Ok, I modded my TPU case using wire cutters and a rounded file. It's not pretty (yet), gotta take the time to smooth out the cuts more. The TPU case is surprisingly tough for being a softer plastic. My phone now goes into car mode 100% of the time with the case....

For those that aren't subscribed to the camera discussion, I figured I'd share the video that I was able to make using the MoPho Car Dock! Another great thing about the dock is the fact that it doesn't cover the camera!
I'm having an issue with the car dock and audio when a song first starts off. When the audio starts I hear a popping sound. It does it when I first open the stock music player or anytime a new song starts with Slacker radio. It also does it when I first open tune in radio or when it restarts music after losing a connection (buffering). It seems to only do it when I plug into the adaptor which attaches to the mini USB plug. If I plug it directly into the phone through the headphone jack, it plays fine without any popping sound. Is this a common problem, or do I have a bum car dock? If some others can try their docks out, this would be great so I know if it is a common issue or not. It seems to be more pronounced at high volumes.
Other than this issue, I love the car dock. I travel between Delaware and NY every week so i definately get plenty of use out of it. For now, I'll just use the headphone jack.
Hello All:
I have the Photon 4G with the Moto Car Dock sold in the sprint store. Overall it is a great phone. But I have one issue that is annoying. Most of the time when I dock the phone it will not engage to charge or bring up the car dock. I pop it out of the dock and then back in and everything engages. This happens most of the time so I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue.
It could be an incomplete connection. Until I modified the case to ensure good connection with the dock; my GPS would work but not the music except over the phone speakers. After case mod - no problems. Make sure your phone is fully seated with no wobble at all on the connector.

I've heard the sound, when the phone is establishing connection via HDMI (while placing the phone into the dock), but once I have the phone locked into the dock, that's the only time that I hear that sound. The rest of the time, I never hear the sound. Mikenk mentioned making sure that the phone is docked/seated well, which would be the same solution I could think of.

Yes...I did modify the dock to allow to phone to sit quite nicely in the dock with the case from the store. It makes a complete connection. Does anyone have this issue?

I believe it has been seated nice and tight, but I cannot be 100% sure on this. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the quick response.

The only other thing I could say is double check that the 3.5mm adapter is going completely into the port that's connected to the USB (near the charger).
That's great to know! I don't know if it's worth the price, right now, but eventually that's something I may consider if I don't upgrade again next year.
Hey its better than nothing and if the Price on the Bionics laptop drops enough for me to justify its price at some point without there being a dedicated laptop dock for the Photon I just might have to go buy it.
EDIT:Oh, and does anyone know the screen resolution on the laptop docks screen?

Right now the dock is $299.99 or $199.99 after a $100 rebate (not sure what strings are attached to that).
If I can get a refurb dock soon for $150 or less, I'll jump on it until the Photon gets it's own dock. Once/if the Photon finally gets a dock, I'll put the Bionic dock up for sale on ebay.
If not, I'm sure a little elbow-grease is all I'd need to relocate those ports in the back.
Did anybody post how they got their hd dock to work. I've got it hooked up and all I'm getting is the motorola symbol. I saw someone said a reboot, I tried that and still not working.
Hah, I just figured it out. The phone has to be unlocked when you put it in the dock.

I paid $64.99 for mine,but,still a LOT better than $99.99 in-store.
That's a good deal. I got the 25% off the 99.99, but would've totally snagged this back then. I don't use my HD dock that much, but glad I have it for when I do use it.

Absolutely, even if you use the HD DOCK as a charging dock only,it's just about worth the $39.99 price, especially since it will accommodate those w/an extended battery.

Yeah ebay has a nice selection, just have to keep a very good eye out for the deal as well as where its coming from and from who.
a bit off topic, but I got a Lenovo Thinkpad 32GB tablet along with the keyboard folio, stylus pen and dock all for $425. Direct thru any retailer and it would have cost me over $800
So it pays to be patient and keep a good watch on deals.
Can someone with the car dock tell me, is there a way that I can have the audio routed through the phone's speaker rather than the aux input to my car stereo? Reason I ask is that I would like to be able to listen to the radio but also run Trapster at the same time. If I'm listening to music on the phone no problem but if I am listening to the radio or a CD then I don't get the Trapster audio alerts. thanks much!

If you're using the 3.5mm adaptor on the car dock, you've gotta unplug the 3.5 connected to the adaptor, in order to do this. Whenever you want to go back to listening to music on your phone and playing trapster over the car speakers, just plug the 3.5mm connector back into the adaptor.
I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a ProClip vehicle specific mount and use a cheaper Garmin Adaptor from Amazon. Works perfectly, so I had to share. The Proclip mount is so much sturdier than I thought, especially with the weight of the car dock, so I highly recommend it! As much money as I've spent on different mounts, this is the first time I've felt like I likely won't have to change again...LOL.

Bumping this thread back up. I can't remember if anybody had tested the extended battery with the car dock and if they had any success. Can anybody who actually tried using it with the car dock chime in?

Doh...really? Hmmm, I heard they're still offering the 20% off premiere discount in store for 2+ items. Since I plan on getting the mopho q for my secondary line and the car dock for the person that'll be using it...I should maybe pick up another lapdock 100 to get the 20% off both items.
