Let's See Your Screens (Screenshot Pictures of Homescreens)...NO ROOTING NECESSARY
We had a similar thread like this in the EVO forum, so I figured I'd start one for the Photon people to share your screens with screenshots.
NOTE:
- For those of you that don't know how to get screenshots, here's a great post by Bandage that has an app that allows you to get screenshots of your phone without rooting: Screen Grab
- In order to install the apk from XDA on your phone, you MUST allow apps from "Unknown sources" to install. In order to do that, follow the steps in my post below: Step-by-step to allow for apk's to be installed that aren't from the market.
- When posting screenshots, be sure to indicate apps/wallpapers/etc. that you're using on the screen that people are looking at (this will avoid people having to ask in the thread and keep it clean to just sharing screenshots and apps)
- For those familiar with being able to edit pictures to use as wallpapers, the exact size for a wallpaper to fit perfectly is 1080 X 960.
Apps Being Used (not already linked above)
- Launcher Pro Plus Clear Widget Pack
Bookmarks Widget in Launcher Pro Plus w/ Clear Widget Icon pack for transparent widget backgrounds
Apps Being Used (links provided for apps not already linked above)
- PowerAmp Trial
- PowerAmp Full Version Unlocker
- Widgetsoid2.X
- Motorola 4G scan and on/of widget toggles (trying to replace or wait until Widgetsoid supports all 4G phones, not just EVO).
Toggle Screen for Wifi/Screen Brightness/GPS/Bluetooth, along with Music Screen for commute using PowerAmp
Apps Being Used (not already mentioned above)
- Widget Locker Lockscreen
- Motorola Text Messaging widget (trying to find a transparent replacement for this, where it'll just display recent text messages on the lockscreen)
- Pacman Unlocker from XDA XDA with Widgetlocker Themes
- Circle Battery Widget
- Widgetsoid2.X Clock Widget

So you can use the moto widgets with launcher pro?
I'm not sure if they're moto widgets or android widgets, but yes...the 4G toggles show up and work fine on my Launcher Pro Plus. I just think they're visually not very nice looking...LOL.
I actually like their minimalistic appearance. I don't have a way of directly uploading my screen shots directly from my phone since I'm posting from it but I'll share them when I get a chance.

I cannot get the app to install on my phone. I get an error message. Any suggestions??
I've heard people say download to your computer & install from there but I don't have the USB cord with me.

Doh...You reminded me of a step that I needed to add. In order to install the app from XDA, you have to allow for apps from "Unknown Sources" to be installed on your phone. To get there, very simple:
On the Phone:
Menu>Settings>Applications>Click Toggle Button for "Unknown Sources" and you'll get a warning prompt. Once you've installed, you can untoggle the selection. I usually keep mine open because I'm always paying attention to what I install on the phone.

My phone is already set to allow apps from Unknown Sources. I'm able to download the file but I get an error message when I try to open it.
Man I completely forgot about this thread. Heres mine
Heres the Home Screen
Ive got the stock weather app. Wigetsoid 3G on off, a row of Moto toggles, FB, stock cam, HDR, G+, Youtube, Voicemail, Amazon app and then market Place. The Dock is Dialer, Dolphin Browser, Handcent, apps
Google search, Calendar app for the day to day, Titanium system back up, 3 Email accounts, Digitally Imported- a god send when Im bored at work and its all electronic music. Gmail, Another Camera App, Camcorder, Words with friends, and the stock messaging app which makes it easy to respond to Facebook and other non important messaging.
Now its Winamp, the world clock, Sprint Zone for checking on my account, accounts for checking the rest of the ones not on there, Maps, which should be changed to telenav, and lastly my gallery app.
Lock Menu for a lock screen and all of my important/most used apps in one place.
In the Status bar its batteryminder which is kinda useless since it jumps by tens when I need one that goes by single numbers in my bar, screen grabber, visidon app lock-an app that uses your front facing camera to recognize its you in front of the camera-great for letting friends use your phone but keeping sensitive apps still locked. Lookout, Extreme Alarm clock and lock menu-its status bar icon is invisible though
This is a picture I took with this phone on my way back from visiting my grandparents home while my dad was racing down the road at 50+ mph. Im not religious at all but thought this was a really beautiful picture for this camera to take.

Using Fancy widgets and Elixer for the buttons and shortcuts. I used the Moto phone portal to get them to my computer. The screen catcher is cool. I had one like it on my last phone but it was rooted to use it. Phone portal is cool too.

After much fiddling, I think I have mine set for the time being. Files used are Go Launcher EX with Honeycomb theme and Fancy Widgets (clock/weather).
Also, don't forget that a quick way to install apk files is to email them to your Gmail account as an attachment. In Gmail, you'll see an option to install directly from the message. Very handy if you don't have your data cable nearby!

I'm using it also. Great app and serves the sole purpose of showing the percentage on the notification bar, while at the same time showing single percentage increments vs. the other battery apps that aren't programmed to override Motorola's 5 or 10% increment settings.

Another good one is Battery Circle. Very simple notification bar app with few options. Wont take you to the battery settings but I like how it looks and the 1% increments.

Yup. I use both battery circle an circle battery...LOL.
Is there a way to modify the lock screen (even in minor ways) with the stock UI, or do you have to use an app like WidgetLocker? I actually like the MoPho's default lock screen, but I dislike how dark it is.

I don't think there's a way to edit/modify the stock lock screen.
I actually liked the colors of the stock lock screen, but I hated the responsiveness of the side lock. I purchased WidgetLocker just to be able to use a customized version of the Sense locker (swipe down to unlock), but because of WidgetLocker being so customizable, I found the pacman theme that I just couldn't pass up.

Ooh, so WidgetLocker resolves that issue? That's another thing that bugs me about the lock screen, but it wasn't a big enough deal for me to go hunting down a solution. If one presents itself, however...

Oh yeah. At first, I thought maybe I was being overly critical (just trying to find out what "bugs" were on the phone). Once I switched to WidgetLocker, the unlock seemed much more responsive than it was with Motorola's lock screen.
I really do love Motorola's color scheme (dark blue/midnight blue is my favorite color), but not enough to deal with the lock screen not really responding like it did on my EVO (which was instant, all the time).

Yes battery circle is the app I am using. I tried Lock Menu https://market.android.com/details?id=com.husmithinc.android.lockmenu&feature for a bit. Its free and does a lot of custom things with the lock screen. The only problem I had and the reason I quit using it was because every now and then I would have to unlock with it and then again with the stock lock screen. It was annoying. I am currently using a live wall paper that allows you to use a custom pic on your lock screen. It also uses a different pic on every one of your screens. A lot of things you can do with it. It is called Multi Picture Live wall paper. https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture pictureviewCAOVX27R.jpgpictureviewCAZ93HT4.jpgpictureviewCATIDM54.jpg
I had the Multi Picture running all day yesterday and my battery life was great. It didn't seem to affect that.

Oops, I was reading that from my phone and I didn't check out your link before my post. I'm sorry, and apologize, for being redundant.
No worries. It's a great app and the more reminders, when people are new and just skimming through the first posts and may have overlooked something, the better.
Citizen Coyote, drexappeal...regarding the lock screen....
There are a couple of apps I've found in the Market (free & paid versions of both) to change the "unlock" screen. Coming from the Evo I liked swiping the screen down to unlock & just couldn't get used to swiping sideways. It felt weird so I started searching for a solution. MY solution (it's not perfect but it does the job) is the free version of Ripple Lock. There's another app called Agile Lock that will change your unlock screen. A friend of mine was my Guinea pig, he tried both & preferred Ripple Lock over Agile Lock. Like I said, it's not perfect but I like it much better than I like swiping left to right. The free version works well enough for my purposes so I'm not going to pay for it but I'm sure the paid version works better & has more options.
HELP!!! The screen grab app from SDA will not down load... yes I allowed 3rd party apps but my phone begins the download then stops and says that it is not supported. Any thoughts???

Thanks for the info. Can you send me the links from the market? I can add those to the "Launcher" thread for those that want to try them out.
I'm personally using WidgetLocker and absolutely love it. I too wanted to swipe down, rather than from left to right, but I noticed that when I switched to widget locker, it didn't quite lag as much as the stock lock screen did, so I kept the Pacman theme that I use for my unlocker.

Also be sure that in your phone settings, you have the box checked for allowing apps to install from "Unknown Sources."
I finally got this to download today. I literally didn't change anything at all. NOTHING!! I don't know why it wouldn't download before, I tried scanning the QR code & going to the thread from my phone & downloading from there. Every time, I got the error message. At this point it's become more about principal than need!
**Correction** I downloaded a new browser yesterday but I don't think that would have anything to do with it. Who knows!

Yeah, I remember your having an issue with it too! I felt so bad because every option I was trying to give you wasn't working. Glad you finally got it though!
Sprint and Motorola have teamed up to bring us the Motorola Photon 4G, the carrier's first international handset with Android. It's a 4.3 inch powerhouse with its dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and more.
