Welcome to the world of 400-600Kbps that's advertised as 3G speeds. Good 'ol sunny CA, home of the slowest no-contract data speeds on earth. :P

I think the fastest data I ever got was when I went up to Monerey and Carmel on vacation.

Wow. That's fast speeds. When I was still with VM I got like 100kbps... So not the slowest...

The Moto emblemis just taped on, remove it and spray paint the cover.

guess what

I'm out of town and i had to get a friend to finish up the printing process but the case is physically printed out and waiting for me to get back. According to him it's design is really terrible and it wouldn't be possible to make out of aluminum but i'm reserving my judgement for when I actually see it

The newer case in the OP would be too flimsy made out of either material anyways. Aluminum bends easily, especialy when it's <1mm thick, and printed plastic doesn't fare well either when it's that thin

It doesn't matter what it's being used for, you can't make something that thin.

Are you saying that it physically can't be done?

I've been using the same Fosters beer can for over 4-5 years now, to cook in when backpacking. I cram it in my backpack with the rest of my gear and there is not a dent in it.

I've never attempted to hold a car off the ground with it though.

Maybe I'm off base here.

Just sayin'

It looks really epic! You need to start a kickstarters page for this.

I want to reserve one when I get the money.

well when this is finished and made of aluminum you wont have to worry about dropping it. cause if you do drop it the worst it will do is make a loud noise and wake you up. and conveniently you will be on the toilet, so you wont have to worry about crapping yourself if it scares you that bad

no, this is going to be aluminum, white won't be an option. Atleast bare and black will be options. We will probably do a vote. Im going to get a quote and then start the kickstarter.

The modern Elvis......?

re: Design. That looks very nice. A thumbscrew-attached stand (like a picture frame) would be handy, especially since I can find a dock/stand that will work w/USB cable plugged in, assuming there's enough clearance for an angled one.

re: Dropping it. I don't know if any case/skin would even matter in protecting it but the question is whether the aluminum would absorb more or transfer less energy (from hitting the floor) to the phone than silicone/rubber, plastic.

Eh, maybe.
How about a simple stick that folds out to prop it up in landscape at about 60°?
Draw that up!

Hmm. Maybe put a thin rubber casing around the case. Make a little slot for the camera and flash. I feel like the back side is too bare, looks like an unfinished building or something. And maybe make a hole for the Motorola icon? Looks good, though.
