As most of us know, the HTC Evo V 4G (VM's rebranded HTC Evo 3D) is coming to VM in the next few months. I definitely (and happily) will be making the switch to it and was wondering who else will be leaving for the Evo V?

Won't be able to afford to for a while yet, since I just got my Triumph a couple of months ago (2 Triumphs and various accessories, apps, etc., pretty much ate our tax refund).
My issue is with the obvious hardware issues that the triumph has. I'm willing to pay $10 more to have a phone that I'm not constantly fixing problems with. At least, that's if they don't rush the phone like they did with the triumph.

well considering that all they really need to do is rebrand it with VM's logos and bloatware instead of sprint's... I kinda doubt that there will be many if any hardware changes from the evo 3d so it probably won't be rushed since it has already been made .

i honostly think VM will dumb the phone down like take away the 3d and the dual core procesor beacuse "it would cost to much to produce" buuut who knows it may be exactly the same just say virhin mobile on it and have there atroucious wallpaper
I would love to switch. However I can't afford it at the moment. And I'm going off to college in the fall ans will be even more broke!
The thing you need to remember about Roms is the the variations between how sprints we setup and how vms us. Hopefully it wont be to big of a deal. With HTC hopefully they will release good source code. The first thing I would look to do is destroy sense with some sort of aosp rom. Hopefully that phone will attractive alot of developers!

If that was the case, they'd just bring the Evo 4G. I doubt that the investment needed to produce a different hardware revision would be worthwhile for prepaid. Besides, the Evo 3D is old news (to Sprint) at this point... They're passing VM the leftovers, it's not like it's some top of the line phone that they need to make cuts to for it to make business sense.
That said, I will definitely be switching! The specs are still very decent, although I could care less about 3D. My main reason is that the Evo is dual band, and hopefully will get me better reception. The Triumph is atrocious in that regard- my sister's Optimus V gets a consistently better connection! WiMax would be nice too, but I hope VM doesn't tack on $10/month for the privilege like Sprint!

The Evo 3D's that they'd be giving us is probably the ones that they didn't sell under the Sprint banner so they probably wouldn't need to produce a lot more, if any.
For me, the 3D part is a novelty. I most likely wouldn't use it a whole lot. I'm more interested in the dual core side of things.

regardless i hope vm can just get nicer phones period like metro pcs some of there phones are actully quality phones :P
Yeah, but metro pcs is like the East Germany of providers. I used to have their service, and it was impossible to use the phone for anything. Like, why do I want a blackberry where half the features are crippled?

The Evo 3D has a pretty well maintained forum here at AF, too (although I might be slightly biased in that regard). I think that of those of you that pick it up, you'll find that any troubles you have will probably already be documented with solutions here on our forum. Including root-centric ones.

I'm a sucker for waiting to see what development blooms. I for one like to see how devs jump if they don't I will pass.
If in the first two or three months the phone doesn't have a team than why try cause I don't have time to do it two jobs sux.
And if devs are not froggy than its not worth it.
That's not the EVO 3D, its just an EVO 4g that someone flashed to VM and is selling under HTC's name I believe. It's not official, and if it were in stock right now you could use it, but now there is no 4G network on VM.

Im staying on the Triumph until I get my hands on either the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or S3, whichever looks sexy and powerful under T-Mobile's 4G network. Much as 4G will come to VM, i have to select a better price and double data limit on T-Mobilet, that is hard to beat on VM's limit.

I realized that but 4G is available on Sprint, shouldn't it be available on VM since we use the same towers? Unless it's LTE in which that'll be available for Sprint soon.

We're allowed to use the same towers, that doesn't mean we get 4G, do you see any 4G phones on VM right now? We don't have 4G so 4G won't work.
the crazy thing about switching to the evo v is that the price of the phone will probably be around 350 + 35/month because your bill will increase and i don't think ive heard will there wimax be at 35 or will it be more. the great thing about getting evo v is its getting ice cream probably near the date of the release for vm. they said evo 3d getting 4.0 early 2012.
Or instead go to tmobile for 30 with 5gb of 4g with great phone under there belt to choose from for probably the same if not a little cheaper then the evo if indeed it exceeds the 300 mark. with tmobile have better support all around for there phones.

i will most DEFINATELY be getting the EVO 3D. i just talked to a woman over the phone who told me to keep checking the website, thats where they will release the first official informatiion/release date/price. im guessing it will be around $299 considering it will be the new flagship phone replacing the Triumph. notice the price of the Triumph has been dropping lately... it started at $300 (bought mine for 260 off amazon XP). oh and the ROMS, OH the roms!
Haha, thanks, but don't think its a gift or I'm getting it for free, I'm selling my Triumph, iPod Touch 4G 32GB and a bunch of other stuff for it
Wow lol Frenchtoast we basically have the same setup. I'm not selling my touch anytime soon. I just got 50$ in iTunes gift cards. I'll probably wait to see what people think of the evo v before I buy it (I made that mistake with the triumph lol)
