Walked into VZW Corp. Store this morning and got my Xoom, I was the second one in there. Had a few big wigs there lol, I ended up going with the unsubsidized version with month to month data. They waived my activation fee without asking. For month to month data its 20 bucks for a 1gb, but if you dont sign up for it when you buy it and try to activate it later its $35, the rep also told me that there is fees for turning data on and off.
I haven't really played with it much yet, but first impression is that the hardware is solid and the OS is snappy and very fast. I will report back when i've done some more tinkering.
***So as far as apps go it automatically installs are your apps. The market also has a section or tablets. But it doesn't have all the apps, for example it shows regular Fruit Ninja but under other titles by HalfBrick it shows the Tegra version, which was not listed on the tablet apps section. So far so good!

First one at my Verizon... guy said slot of people had been calling about it and they'll definitely be out by noon. As for wobbly button.. that's a figment of someones imagination. I got worried after a couple reviews, but im happy to say im keeping my Xoom as 100% satisfied.. damn thing is a slick beast
What if you just want a wifi-only tablet, no 3G or monthly data plan needed--does the Xoom have this option in hardware, or do you have to buy a 3G-capable tablet and simply not subscribe to a data plan?

If you had looked around the forum there are multiple posts that answer this question.
The wifi only tablet will be out in a month or two. Only the 3g is available as of this moment.
OR
You can buy the tablet at $800 and just use it as a Wifi only tablet. The Wifi only tablet will be $599.99 (not 100% confirmed because they did say AROUND 600)

Just got home setting it up now. Big vz store I went to only got a few of them and only 2 weren't spoken for. They had no docks and only 1 folio, said they wouldn't get acessories for a few more days. Build quality and screen are excellent. Had to turn off the auto brightness though it was way to dark, crank the brightness and it is gorgous. Posted from my xoom btw!

Managing to post it after 30 minutes of frustration is different from quickly and seemlessly typing it =P hahaha
Haha that's how it is.. im driving right now so im on my droidx but my Verizon had a few accessories so I picked up a portfolio and a keyboard. I haven't opened either yet cause I have been busy. Browser has had a little trouble scrolling on large pages but expect that'll be fixed, even then its not that bad. Verizon guy said an update for the tablet is coming soon to update it so theres some type of icon or indicator on the taskbar or somewhere letting you know bluetooth keyboard is coonecting. Maybe it'll also add some other stuff!

Actually it kinda depends. When I made the first post it was a pretty good lag between the keyboard and the web page. Now if you are typing in gmail or mail etc.. it is lightning quick typing. Honestly the typing lag just seems to show up on forums. The keyboard is super quick but it takes a half second or so to show on web pages. So no lag super quick keyboard but on this page the keyboard is always quick just the txt showing is a little behind and you don't see that in any app.
Picked mine up from Bestbuy in midtown manhattan this morning. First one there and I got the only surplus one =D typing on it right now, hoping sywpe comes soon =P

32gb is probably allocated for part app storage and most for media.
Actually the way it is reporting it, think more of a hard drive. It says you have xgig available and then tells you the space you are using and that space being used x meg is apps and x is media. It very much looks like a normal windows type drive it just tells you the space you are using is what type, it doesn't say you have y available for apps and x available for media. So in other words all space is available for whatever you want, type doesn't seem to matter

Btw the market is awesome on the xoom. So easy to see apps and scroll through tons of them. I did notice the first thing the xoom did when it had a internet connection was download a market update.

This is different from previous Android versions. Honeycomb dynamic now, like iOS?
Normal would be a few gigs or less allocated to device storage and the balance of the 32gb would be media space.
I bought one first thing this morning from a Verizon store. I showed up a few minutes before they opened and was the only one there. I have work to do today and have only had a few minutes to play for it, but so far am loving it. Honeycomb is a major step in the right direction. I had being toying with the idea of getting an Ipad for a while and am very glad that I waited.
Had an interesting trip to Best Buy. They were selling them in the computer department and the kid that helped me seemed to have no clue what the Xoom was. He spent about 15 minutes in the back trying to find them. When he brought one and cash me out there was no mention of Verizon, activation, or a monthly data plan. I tried to do the buy back program but he said it wasn't free for tablets and that the free promotional period ended a week ago (ugh!). The total came up to $875 with the tax. YMMV

$500 more than the gTablet with same chipset. Though the display is sweet, the lack of USB host (apparently) offsets this for me. None the less, I respect folks that feel the price is fine. The main thing is if you are happy- ALL is good
Here is a quick picture. This is all that is on the storage page
Thanks! Looks like Honeycomb has gone Apple on us for storage management. In this case it is actually a very good thing
THIS explains why the microsd is not working. Honeycomb appears to be designed this way. Will be interesting to see how some apps behave with this. A lot of apps dump data to the SD card and either will not install or work without a microsd. This does not include apps2sd process (not needed with 32gb built-in).
Seems a lot of apps may have to be updated for Honeycomb.

Odd I have the exact opposite impression. To me it seems like a cheap piece of crap very disapponted. Mine is very flimsy and I have to really pull on it hard to get it to close over the xoom. The xoom is a very high class feeling piece of hardware then the folio is a flimsy piece of rubbery sock with cheapo plastic. They didn't have the dock this morning and had one folio so I got that. Going to hit up a best buy tomorrow to try and score the dock, anyone have impressions on the standard dock?
I guess with the folio I was expecting a folio feel, leather ,sturdy feeling with good hinges. That is not what this folio is. Hopefully we can see some good 3rd party accessories soon.
Grabbed the Xoom at BB earlier along with the portfolio. Talked the guys in to no activation and no data plan so it all worked out well as I only need it for wifi currently. There is an option no the BB screen for them to skip activation!
Brought it home opened it up and activated over wifi, no problem.
Best part of all, no ones greasy hands touched the Xoom, it stayed in the box the whole time.
Device(s): HTC Droid DNA, iPAD 3 (yes I know :-) , I have a XOOM too)

I have the portfolio case and feel exactly as you do, cheap feeling, hard corners, etc. I like the dock so far although I miss sometimes trying to line it up to place on.
Got mine at Verizon about an hour ago. I tried going to Best Buy but they were only selling them to their pre-order customers. So far so good. It feels nice, the back is kinda rubbery, and it's got some weight to it, lol. Facebook[widget] doesn't seem to want to work, it keeps force closing.
Still in the middle of playing with it and downloading my apps. In case you guys are wondering, no it will not make any calls, I already tried. My screen is already full of finger marks!!

Well hey every touchscreen ever made gets smudges. Though I can't help but muse about Motorola pulling an Apple, telling everyone to stop touching it wrong, then shipping everyone a free pair of gloves
I went to bby after work to cancel my pre-order and get the dock with the gift card. They were genuinely shocked that I canceled the pre-order. LOL! Especially since I was getting the dock. They were kinda confused. I didn't get a chance to ask him how many they got in and sold. But I was able to use my reward zone 12% off coupon on the dock. I know this is going to sound odd, but, I ended up getting both the silicone and portfolio cases. For day to day, I think the silicone case is going to rock. However, when traveling, especially on a train or plane, the portfolio case will be really nice. Being able to switch between them I think will be a nice thing. All in all, I'm REALLY loving this tablet. It has some growing to do for sure, but, for an initial release, the hardware and software are very well done IMO.
I had an awful time trying to pick mine up. I preordered from Best Buy and set an appointment for pick up at one. When I got there at 5 of, the only people near the Xoom display was a mobile guy and a Verizon rep, neither of whom could help me. When I finally got a Computer associate 15 minutes later, he had no idea how to activate a data plan. It took him another 15 minutes to find someone to show him how to use the BEAsT program they use to do so. Then, to own my own part of the problems, I forgot my password needed to make changes on my VZW account, so we got stuck on hold with them for 20 minutes, so they could change it for me. After that,it was easy, and I finally got out of the store around 2, and had to head right back to school for class, so I've only just gotten to start really playing with it.
I got my xoom! Sadly noon who works at best buy has ever even heard of it. When I preordered it the manager at the moile department asked me if it as a phone she one of the sales girls had to tell him it was a tablet. Today didn't go much better. Took about 30 min to actually buy it they had to hunt one down and even got a wow when. They rang it up lol. I think there was one other giy who asked if they had a any while I was there who was playing w/ a galaxy tab and they told him that i was buying one but they had no plans of putimg out a display model. I can't help but wonder how much divfrent the expereance would have been if the price was a little more competitive?
Got mine at 4:00 today. I'm loving myXoom. For some reason I'm having a major lag typing on this forum but no where else. Gaming is awesome. Movies rock. Screen is amazing. So much to learn. Its nice.

what browser are you using at is it in mobile or desktop mode? there is also an app for this forum in the market place.. not sure if it is ready for honey 3.x or not...
i use skyfire and i have not seen any lag on this forum or one other forum i frequented today on this machine...
I was the first to pick mine up from Best buy this morning.... and I have literally been playing on it all day! Its even better than I'd imagined! The browsing, quickness, & multi-tasking are all 1st rat, and they definitely help to feel more like you're on a laptop than a mobile device (phone).
In fact, if not for a few programs that HAVE to be run on a PC... I could see this device replacing my laptop altogether!
