I talked to VZW customer retention and argued with them about it and they are letting me suspend my data contract until I get LTE.

Anybody can do this at any time right from the My Verizon App on their phone or tablet or from the My Verizon website.

There's also a reconnection fee and it extends your contract, hence the reason, I called to talk to them.

Verizon and Moto promised this for summer, and the assumption can be made that many early adopters made their purchase with their little hearts full of hope and with the thought in mind that an update would come in summer. Do you think there will be ramifications for Vzw/Moto making false claims? Should there be ramifications? Should early adopters get something out of this as compensation? (And don't say the free upgrade because that's what I paid $800 for lol).

I just feel like there needs to be consequences for selling a product and not sticking to its marketing. Thoughts?

I just got an email from Verizon with this 4G pre-upgrade information.

Verizon page here: http://support.vzw.com/information/xoom_grg.html?email=Responsys&CMP=EMC-C-S-XOOM-Come

One thing I'm concerned about is if my Verizon plan will change and/or if the price will change...

I rarely use the 3G so it's not that big a deal, but damn sure would like my SD-Card to work.

No real reason VZW/Moto can't provide SD support now. The Wi-Fi only Xooms recently received a software update that enabled SD use. The way I see it, any claim by VZW that they have to wait for the 4G upgrade to enable SD support is just plain bogus based on the recent update for Wi-Fi users only.

Looks like the 4G upgrades are about to begin. Looks like a 3 day turnaround time for government and business customers. Hope that means a 3 day turnaround time for everyone.

I haven't received any notice, or anything! Is there any way for me to speed up the process and get my XOOM upgraded?

Pretty sure there is not much you can do to speed this up. Given the process involved to get upgraded, I think you'll have to wait for VZW or Moto to let you know when you can request the FedEx shipping package.

My SD card has been working in my 3G Xoom since the last OTA update...

Have you guys tried yours to see if it works?

My 4g upgrade has killed my battery life even though I keep mobile data off 99% of the time and use wifi. I can't figure out what's killing it but something in the new version of the OS is killing it.

Looking forward to having others get the upgrade so people brighter than me can figure out what's going on.

The 4g speed is nice but may not be worth it if they can't get the battery drain fixed.

I haven't either, but I'm kinda thinking I won't do it anyway. Don't really use or need it....only rarely.

And if it kills the battery....more reason not to.

Yep, works here, but I don't "like" the way it works... all the mounting/unmounting, etc. etc.

Well here we are and summer is officially over and still no official word on the status of the 4G upgrade. I have tried to be patient and wait to speak to Verizon and Motorola but now that another promised date has passed its time to give them a call.

Let us know. I'm actually not sure I'm going to do the upgrade .. I really don't have that much need for it.

I called Verizon shortly after my last post. When I explained why I was calling the first CSR immediately asked if she could transfer me to a supervisor. After being on hold for less than a minute the next CSR explained that she was not a supervisor but she was in the loyalty department. I calmly explained why I was calling. She apologized about the lack of information and communication but told me she didn't have any idea when or if the upgrade would arrive. She then offered me some credits to my account for my troubles but I respectfully declined as that was not the purpose of my call. I am not looking for handouts I just want what I was led to believe I was purchasing. In the end the call left me exactly where I started before the call was placed. I will be calling Motorola next.

So, gathering from above posts ... some have upgraded to 4G, some (myself included) have not ... AND ... some have a working SD card. There really isn't an answer. This is starting to piss me off.

I would strongly suggest signing up for this from a computer and not from your Xoom. At the end they want you to print 2 copies of an RMA confirmation page which the stock browser will not save properly. I finally just had to copy out the text from the page into a text file in order to save it for later printing, but its not in the same format. I'll have to see when I get home this evening if the page can be pulled back up on the Motorola site.

The email confirmation that Motorola sends is the same page. If you read it, it even refers to itself as an email. And if you read the confirmation email, it says to print it and include it.

I just got done with all this, my address wasn't working in Moto's system, so it took a while, but finally I just gave a different address and it processed correctly. I got my RMA and the expected delivery is tomorrow (9/30) at 3pm.

Per Moto, the first 75,000 completed upgrades will receive a thank you letter for doing the upgrade and a standard dock with their upgraded XOOM. I hope I am one of those 75,000 since I just completed it before noon! I'm excited!

But meh, I'll survive.

I hope I get a dock. Though I can't even seem to load the webpage to upgrade right now. It's been loading for about 10 minutes now.

Of course as soon as I hit submit on the post the page loaded.

Requested box Thursday, got box Friday and shipped out.

Got this email at 9:36 central
This email is to confirm that we have received your Motorola XOOM and are in process of completing the 4G LTE upgrade.

Checked the tracking number given, and the message at the Moto website said essentially the same thing.

Just re-checked the Moto website tracker at 5:00 central, and got this:

Tracking Order Number:: xxxxxxxx
This device has shipped or is in the process of being shipped back to you. If no tracking information is available, please check back at a later time to allow our system time to update.

No shipping number was given, so its unclear if it shipped today or not.

Updates to follow.

They received my XOOM this morning, FedEx says they signed for it at 7:51am. Still not showing anything but received on the status page though.

A little concerned since I've actually received 4 FedEx boxes from Motorola since Friday! Sometimes I think the company as a whole is just smoking crack.

So for those of you upgrading, do you have to upgrade or change your data plan? Does the price increase for 4G?

You don't have to change to a 4G data plan. The 4G plans cost the same as 3G and allow you to use 3G when 4G isn't available.

I miss my XOOM! I've been without it for less than a day. I can't believe how much I actually use that sucker. Can't wait for it to come back dripping 4G LTE goodness!

This email is to confirm that we have received your Motorola XOOM and are in process of completing the 4G LTE upgrade.

Checked the tracking number given, and the message at the Moto website said essentially the same thing.

Still reading the same. Shipped or in the process of shipping, but no shipping information, and no box at my office.

Same status for me. When I call to find out when its going to ship back they keep telling me the same story. Its been shipped ohh wait I dont know, let me get you to the escalation department. Then at the escalation department they tell me its shipping the day I called. So I have been told it will ship yesterday and again when I called today that it will ship today. Then I was told that they have till Friday before they have to ship it since they quote everyone 5 business days.
