So it looks like mostly this update will just bring the tablet features we know and love to the phone side, but there are some nice bonuses for us.
swiping away notifications and apps in the task switcher
a data manager, for those who have 3g/4g
disable apps, including pre-installed apps
screenshots
facial recognition unlocking
Improved folder management
the ability to request desktop versions of websites in the native browser
a native photo editor
What's everyone most excited about? And when do we think this is going to drop. The Galaxy Nexus is supposed to come out Nov 10, so I'm guessing Nov 18th, the end of the following week.
All those additions sound good, but I'm mainly hoping for some more stability improvements. I especially like the flick to kill apps feature, along with the folder stuff.
Hopefully the official version works better than this hack.

I just HOPE we FINALLY get the ability to Write to OUR SD Cards on OUR EXPENSIVE GED Devices. To me, we should NOT have to Root to get what was promised to us from the start. The WiFi Xoom went on sale in March and we STILL CAN'T Write to our Devices without Root, Pathetic. To me GED is holding back the US Xoom's. I now count GED as WORTHLESS.
It's a Darn shame when my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 has MORE Functionality than my Xoom at half the Price AND is Alot more Portable. Just put in my back pocket, connect my Klipsch S4 Enhanced Bass IEM's, use Power Amp (Free App) and Equalizer (Free App) and I have an AMAZING PMP that does what my Xoom does and MORE (use my Bluetooth Turtle Beach PX5's at home OR my Rocketfish RF-MAB2 Bluetooth Headsets). This Is/Was NOT Supposed to happen. This is why Apple is so successful. Just Buy an use Out-Of-Box. That's where Android Fails Miserably. Have to Root, Unlock Bootloaders etc. etc.
I am NOT a fan of Apple's closed Eco-System (prefer Galaxy Player's Drag & Drop way more than syncing with Crappy iTunes) but Apple Knows about the User Experience better than these Android Tablet Makers.

Soon I hope! and what do you mean Ghodzilla5150? I can write/read from my sd card just fine, then thing that annoys me is that is does not mount as an external drive on my PD, it mounts as a device, but I can still copy files, delete files, etc. as needed. My BeyondCompare Sync program will not work with it though because it is not mounted as a drive....that part really sucks!

I can Write to my SD Card as well USING a PC as a 3rd party link. I CAN'T Write or Delete using a File Manager. I am using Stock and just don't feel like Rooting like I did my EVO. GED was supposed to be all that, well it is NOT. It turns out GED is holding us back while Google makes up their Darn mind on how they are going to implement SD Card Write/Delete of files.
Apparently, MOT/GOOG are looking for early users to test the ICS build on a Google Experience Xoom (that's wifi only). Should be getting an update afterwards.

If they've already sent out notifications to members regarding an upcoming SOAK test don't be surprised if they don't contact you. Oh and Motorola will require that you sign a confidentiality agreement to not discuss the SOAK test anywhere but on their provided test forum. And from what I'm told they do check other Android forums to make sure people are complying with their agreement...

I am somewhat uptight with Motorola. After all, I bought this tablet based upon it being marketed as a "Google" device. I thought, wrongly, that its going to be the same support as for the Nexus S (this has received ICS in December and runs great). Come on Moto, get your act together or me for one will head in a different direction!!!

All you who are complaining here be sure and let Motorola know directly!
They DON'T CARE. They already Suckered us with the Whole GED Marketing Hype BS. They have OUR Money, so there is NO hurry on their part to get OUR "Special Magical GED Xoom's ICS
I already sent them a note complaining about no ICS. But I did not threaten them with moving to a different device. When I am ready to fork out hundreds of dollars again I'll go back through the landscape again and pick the current best available, like I always do. If that's Motorola then I'll go with them. Plus my threat would have been hollow a I am not close to needing one. As fun as it would be to have ICS my Xoom is perfectly fine with HC.
I would rather make sure I have the best hardware first because you can always put in a little work rooting and finding new software.
It's only for the XOOM Experience people who are on Wifi Only XOOMs right now...I hope they release it for the 3g/lte models too as that's what I have even though I don't use the mobile data at all just wifi....help out your early adopters Moto!

I very much hope that an international corporate player, which Motorola purports to be, will keep a beady eye on these forums. Well, if they don't or they can't afford a small department of a couple of people for this task, or indeed, if they haven't even thought of it, then we all should really get worried.

LTE XOOM owners also got the invite for the soak test.
Few tips. Count to three after seeing the Motor Bat Wings then press the down volume.
Make sure you have the right cable.
Once you get to the Android Robot, press the up arrow and power at the sametime to get the menu to come up.

So far I've only found one issue, thus far, with the IML77 update on my Xoom. I installed the update and let the Xoom settle for about 5 minutes before trying to use it. What I found is that the Xoom was rather sluggish following the upgrade. I rebooted into Android Recovery wiped the cache partition. Upon rebooting the Xoom this seems to have resolved the sluggishness.

I did find a second issue late last night...
In the new contact app, when I tried to use Gallery to select a picture for a contact, it FC'd. I was able to re-create this error at will. I clicked the report button to notify Google but I don't think it'll be corrected before the final update is delivered to the Xoom.

This appears to only work/update if you have the OTG cable and put the update on a flash drive. I tried putting it on my sd card but while in the recovery menu it does not recognize the sd card. It does not even have the option of taking it from internal memory.
I just ordered a OTG cable from amazon so I can try this later this week. I was planning on ordering one of these cables anyway so all this did was hasten my purchase.

it is possible to do with out a OTG cable you need to use fast boot. I updated my UK xoom with the us ICS seems to work fine just flash seems to throw a wobble on anything but stock browser and thats not 100% stable went back to honeycomb again now.
