Hi guys I'm a recently converted android user. Yes I saw the light and left apple. I was just wondering what the best app to download music is? I don't mind paying for music in the same way I had to for iTunes but I would like to know which gives the best quality downloads with no ads etc. cheers.
for free music have a look at Freeware Nonags - Free Software Downloads You need to join to access the music. They also have a stack of ringtones, wallpaper in several resolutions and Android games. Note: the android stuff is in rar archives so will need to be downloaded to your PC and unpacked before installing the .apk file.

I prefer Amazon MP3 for my purchases and downloads over Google. When you download to your android via Amazon it actually downloads the mp3. Google music stores it with a bizarre name in a bizarre place (it plays just fine though). Also if you want to download music from Google music to your desktop you are allowed to download a specific album 2x or you can download you entire library (mine is currently 15gb and growing).
Amazon Mp3 you can download specific songs at anytime.
I'm another vote for Amazon's music service. I use it to buy MP3 files of tunes that I only want singles of, and don't need full LPCM fidelity. I also keep the rest of my MP3 files there for redundancy and easy access. (I rip every CD to FLAC, MP3 and Vorbis/Ogg formats, with the last two for portable use.)
I recall an online music service that used to sell high quality (LPCM I think) music downloads. Does anyone know if it's still around, and the name of it? Or any "better than MP3" download service that's not Itunes?

"Please note that AmazonMP3.com is currently only available to US customers." Go outside of the US, and you can't get at your music.
I use mostly use Baidu for music downloads, it's free or ad-supported. I was using Google but they seem to have pulled the plug on their music service.

If you're looking for audience recordings (which can vary in quality) there are a number of torrent sites out there, *************.org and archive.org are two good ones. The den only offers lossless formats such as .flac, .shn etc and the archive offers both lossless and mp3. One advantage of the archive is you can d/l direct rather than torrents. Any reputable torrent site will offer only audience recordings and no commercial releases. Any questions about torrenting to your pc or Mac can be addressed on the sites. It's amazing the range of artists and genres that are available...
