I got a pair a couple of months ago similar to these but not these. I use them at work. I also have some Creative Labs earbuds I keep in the car for times I'm somewhere and need them.

I don't have any high quality music on my phone, so I'm just using some cheap Skullcandy earbuds. Along with the Equalizer app, it sounds pretty decent.

Are you only looking for headphones or can I recommend the earbuds I use? I have ViSang r03's (aka brainwavz M2). They're awesome and a major upgrade from my skullcandy's.

What are you looking to use them for?

My home headphones are different then my work headphones and those are different then the ones I use at the gym.

Go ahead and flame me, but I honestly like the new Apple earbuds. I miss having more noise cancellation with in-ear buds, but these are much more comfortable and have great sound. Wish I could utilize the volume rocker/mic though. But, for $30, not bad.

Isn't there a app that can let you use the volume rocker?

Not positive. The only thing I've seen is a hardware fix where it needs to be taken apart. Not something I'm willing to do.
If you do know of an app, let me know. That'd be great.

The ones I bought sounds pretty good to me, I'm not real picky. Having some Bose would be really really good to have, but I'm sure Mrs. Saptech wouldn't approve of the cost!

Thnx.

Here's what I use: Headphone recommendations?

For around the house, I have Turtle Beach X31's. Me & Mrs Presidente work toally different shift patterns so they're really handy when one of us is in bed.

I'd a set of Phillips for aqes, they were really good and the volume control worked with my phone, but they broke unfortunately and they don't sell them any more.

I've got these, I know they aren't the best available but I really like the sound quality especially when teamed with my One X

My missus got these with her Nokia Lumia, same make as the beats ones and really good sound quality.. use them with my PC.

Do some research before buying Bose or Beats. You can find better for the money.

I have AKG K701 (open back) cans for the most critical listening. Mostly I use my pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50 (closed back) 'phones. One has a straight cable for home use; the other has a coiled cord for working around sound consoles and other places where you don't want a cable dragging over stuff. I also have several Koss earbuds for travel, exercise and whenever carry size and/or weight is an issue. I have Grado SR60 open air cans and a whole selection of other earbuds in a wide range of cost and quality that I keep at home for spares.

I have the Beats Tour earbuds and they sound great to me. I had a giftcard so I didn't have to pay the ridiculous amount that they cost so I'm happy.

My old school Nintendo gameboy earbuds were the best earbuds I've ever owned!

Haven't had any since then. Now I just use the stereo in my truck.

I always want to dropkick all the people I see wearing Beats. Overpriced junk. I plan on picking up a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50's though. They're on sale for $105 USD on Amazon.

For headphones I have Sennheiser HD-448's -

And I'm hopefully getting some RHA MA350 earphones soon for taking out and about. They have a braided fabric cable to stop them getting tangled, genius! Also they are British

After WAY too much research I was able to score some knock-off Beats Tours (ear bud) and PowerBeats (Ear clips) that are amazingly close to the original. After lots of comparing side by side with the high dollar ones I actually prefer the sound a little bit better as there is more low-end and a full mid-range plus the highs aren't quite so bright which at higher volumes was downright painful. I've seen some bad ones (usually the price reflects this as well) but these are quite nice for fit and finish. Having them side by side you can tell the differences but it's usually in different logos and such rather than poor quality logos. I wouldn't pay $160 for beats headphones but for what I paid I love them. The wife loves hers and I even got more for my buddies and so far no complaints. Not sure how much of a suggestion that is though because it took WAY too much work to get decent ones as I've said. I've seen some of the poor quality cheap ones and you wouldn't want to own those at all. Trust me. If I had to do over again I probably would have just bought the real deal or some other headphone rather than invest as much time into finding the best ones but there you go. Just thinking out loud I guess.

Here's some pics of mine so you can see which ones I'm talking about.

The PowerBeats ones I use more because with the clip they tend to stay in my ears better. Both get used though and since I paid a fraction of the real thing I'm not as worried about actually using them while I'm active and potentially damaging them like I would with headphones that cost a couple hundred bucks. These have held up surprisingly well thus far.

I've got some Sennheiser head phones too but I don't wear them unless I'm just relaxing. I'm too afraid to damage expensive headphones when I'm working out or active since I tend to sweat a lot so this is pretty much every time I would want to use headphones. So, doesn't matter how good they are if I don't feel comfortable to even use them. Are there better out there? Of course. I also wouldn't use a Ferrari to haul rock home for landscaping purpose.

What you do is your business, and you're free do follow your bliss, or not as the case may be. But it doesn't seem sensible to me to wear big headphones "when (you're) working out or active" for a number of reasons. I'm pretty sure that's why in-the-ear earbuds were made. I had a nice set from Etymotic that are designed to work underwater. Back when I was in the pool 8 hours a day, I would have killed to have underwater tunes. The right tool for the right job. Simple as that.

Maybe a tad bit harsh?

I can agree though, to an extent. IMO you hit it right on the head when you said right tools for the job!

I've got my Sennheisers for around the house or working from the computer or tablet. I wouldn't dream of using them at the gym. For the gym I much prefer my bluetooth Jaybirds. When I'm at work (and can use headphones) I stick to my cheap, inexpensive ear buds.

...different tastes and wants/needs/risks for different places.

It's just headphones guys, no point in getting worked up about things.

Attack issues, not each other and if you see anything you don't like, hit report and we'll take a look at it.

Any issues with that, please drop me a line.

I use regular iPod headphones.

Hopefully Santa Clause brings me some Beats for Christmas.

I didn't mean to be harsh. I must admit that I was taken aback by the whole "fear of headphones" thing. I was just trying to make lemonade over what looked like a mighty sour situation. Frankly I thought that the "Ferrari to haul rock" thing was pretty harsh, which is why I ignored it.

I can agree though, to an extent. IMO you hit it right on the head when you said right tools for the job!
Thanks. Just trying to be helpful.

I've got my Sennheisers for around the house or working from the computer or tablet. I wouldn't dream of using them at the gym. For the gym I much prefer my bluetooth Jaybirds. When I'm at work (and can use headphones) I stick to my cheap, inexpensive ear buds.
I use my AKG 'phones (which I prefer over the top-rated Sennheiser models because of its extended bass response) for critical listening and especially for pleasure listening classical and jazz music. But because they don't play as loud as the A-T closed back 'phones, and lack the punch of the M50s, I've been using the M50s for listening to music that was meant to be played loud. And because they're closed, I use them when I'm editing late at night, so I don't risk waking my neighbors with loudspeakers.

Back when I did live concert FOH mixing, I had the standard Koss Pro-4AAA closed back headphones (at the time the 4AAA replaced the 4AA, a superior product IMO, and in others' apparently) to plug into the mixing console. They had the isolation needed for use in a loud concert environment, but didn't make for enjoyable music listening.

I don't do much live PA mixing any more, but do carry a small mixer to use in video production. I started bringing my M50s with me to listen for microphone problems before shooting. I have a set of cheap, lightweight cover-the-ear headphones and earbuds that I use for confidence monitoring during the shoot because full sized cans would get in the way.

When I'm out walking or at the gym I use one of several Koss earbuds that I've picked up over the years. I've loved the $15 model, but ever since I found more costly (and I hope better sounding) Koss earbuds at the local A/V supply store, I've been experimenting with the more and more expensive models.

I suppose that the big difference between us is that when I'm at work, I'm using the finest audio gear that I can muster because it's part of the job.

So you also chose to use inexpensive headphones when active but when I do it it's somehow wrong?

I use the earbuds that came with my S3. I think they're quite good.

I'm sorry. I didn't scroll down and notice that you were the one who posted about the Beats knock-offs. I didn't mean to insult you or your choice. I was honestly confused by the next post that you made, and only made things worse. My bad. Please forgive me. (FYI this isn't a "Moderator influenced apology"; I really mean every word.)

Beyerdynamic DT 880's in the house and Sennheiser PX 100-II headphones when I'm out walking. I've tried iem's with various after market tips but I can't get a good seal to stay and the bass suffers too much because of it.

Sennheiser HD 202's are excellent budget headphones. Available from Amazon at around 23.

So are the 203's; I caught mine on sale and paid less than I would have for 202's. I've listened to a friends 202s as well and I think the 203's are just a smidgen better, but that could have been owner bias.
