Cannot tether phone to Sony Internet TV

Can someone please help me tether my phone to the Sony Internet TV? My phone is rooted and uses the froyo os. It is tethering perfectly to pc and mac via the wireless tether app and also through usb but the Sony Internet TV does not display the wireless ssid. Very frustrating.
