If I buy this phone can I root it and put a default Froyo ROM on it?

I hate the HTC Sense...

I was the same way after having the MT3G-S and when I first got this phone, but after playing with pure Sense in the Desire HD and Desire Z ports and seeing how Sense is supposed to be without TMO's Espresso overlay on top of Sense I love it.

no the G2 uses "Stock/Vanilla" Android, one of the nice things about the Desire ROMs is that the Front Facing Camera works perfectly still. Pure Sense is more like what the Sprint EVO uses.
it is also much smoother running and much much more ascetically pleasing than TMO's version IMHO.


edit : however if you are prefer a vanilla version CyanogenMod 6 is very good for a vanilla 2.2.1, also right now the CM Team is working on CM7 which is 2.3 and releasing nightly test versions. there was a really clean and smooth running version of Gingerbread on XDA but due to B.S. and drama the developer pulled it down
