Question Was my slide rooted?

about 7 months ago i bought a fairly new but used mytouch slide from a pawn shop. after christmas i dropped the phone in snow and it broke. i recently got a mytouch 4g and im noticing there are a few things i could do on my slide that i cant do on my 4g.

the first thing i noticed was that i can not unlock my 4g by pressing the menu button. ever since i got my mytouch slide i was able to unlock the phone just by pressing the menu button.

another thing i would always do on my slide was take screen shots using the app "screenshot". i downloaded the app "screenshot" onto my 4g and it would not work.

my slide ran 2.1 but the android market on my slide is exactly like the market on my 4g with 2.2. (i dont know if rooting does this or if there was an update that did this for everyone).

but i never rooted my slide and it still did all that stuff after i did several factory resets. can anyone tell me if my slide was rooted? im thinking about rooting my 4g

It's possible that your slide was rooted based on the fact that the screenshot app worked. If it is this app that you were referring to: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.geeksoft.screenshot - it says it works on root only.

But, most of those things you mentioned don't require root and are just how the Slide works. I have not rooted my Slide and I am able to unlock the phone with the menu button, and I'm pretty sure the market app is supposed to look the same across both phones.

I think once you get root, a factory reset won't un-root the phone.

If you need to get rid of root, here is an un-rooting guide: Just another tech blog: Complete guide to unrooting the HTC Slide

Default Visionary Root APK, Root Checker to verify Root is Active

Verify if the root status is active using root checker app. Lite, minimal permissions. Confirms Root & BusyBox.

I use Visionary for temporary root & semi-perma root (keeps the stock rom, but enables superuser permissions). Does not incorporate FULL root access, but allows SuperUser Permissions. Sweet. Confirmed to work on:
* HTC G2 (T-Mobile G2/HTC Vision)
* HTC Desire Z
* HTC Desire HD
* HTC MyTouch 4G (T-Mobile MyTouch 4G)
* **MT3G Slide, Not confirmed, but I used it on MT3G Slide, & it worked for super user permissions. Did not work for flashing rom
Unlockr MT3G slide exploid root method is easy and has all necessary files to obtain Root for the MT3G Slide. If the esprimg.zip file fails to load, download this one and place on the root of yr SD, follow remainder of procedure. For some reason the original file did not work properly, but when I used this version, Root was obtained!
