Default What are you using your tablet for?

I'm still on the fence about keeping the Nexus 10 and I'm wondering what people are using their tablets for. Off the top of my head, here's what I'm using it for:
  • Reading
  • Watching Netflix (wish Amazon instant video was available)
  • Navigation (via tethering to cell phone)
  • Taking photos/videos
  • Video chatting (Google Talk right now, but looking for better options)
  • Productivity (can't do much with a tablet, aside from quick email processing and calendaring. For heavy duty work, I still need a physical keyboard and full Office suite.)
  • Remote desktop (productivity-related, but this is mostly to access

Thanks!
Mike

  • Reading
  • Watching Amazon Streaming Movies
  • Was watching Time Warner TV (after I rooted they said I couldn't use the app anymore )
  • Surfing the Internets
  • Trying out the latest roms (when they start coming out)
  • Probably play a few games when I find one I want

The Nexus 10 isn't something I really needed. Its just so much easier on my back, and more convenient, doing these things in my recliner than setting at the table with my 17" laptop.

Atmazzzz, how are you watching Amazon Streaming Movies? I searched for the app on Google Play and there's nothing available.

I'm on the fence about purchasing since I still love my wifi GED Xoom... however, habits would be the same:

- Netflix
- internet browser
- textbook reader
- productivity (word docs, excel sheets, powerpoints)
- games

I just use the browser to go to their site. No app. I watched The Amazing Spiderman Saturday night. It looked great. I wish they would get HD support for the Nexus 10. It wouldn't let me watch in HD.

I did not really need this tablet, I have a Note 10.1 that I use for taking notes in class and at work for meetings...helps with the going paperless effort. And I had a Motorola 4G Xoom (which I sold to get the Nexus 10) that was my play tablet, so this will take up where it left off....

- Flashing new ROMs
- Internet browsing
- Social Networks
- Google TV/Movies
- Reading
- Remoting into work computer
- Convincing non-believers how powerful Android is compared to Apple

When I tried this, I was told that I needed Flash installed to watch. And when I tried to install Flash, I was told that it was not supported on this device.

How do you get Flash installed? Is it in the Dolphin browser or any other besides Chrome?

Thanks.

Shelly, Check this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336. It should work with any browser, except Chrome I think. I use Boat Browser.

I'm ready to give up trying to access flash on the N10.

I downloaded the link provided by Atmazz twice but can't find it in my Downloads folder. Is there a way to search the tablet itself as you can on a desktop?

I also downloaded the flash add on for Dolphin which I am now using as my web browser.

Yet I still cannot get Amazon Prime movies to play as it always gives me a Need To Install Flash notice. I am a Prime member. I use Amazon Prime Movies on my computer and on several Roku streaming boxes.

Any further help would be appreciated.

At least I still have Netflix to stream movies of the N10.

Is there a download folder in a Dolphin folder? If you pull down your notification does it show a download? If so, tap that.

Can you download on a computer and then copy it to your tablet where you can find it? Then use a file manager to open and install it.

I downloaded Appinstaller and then installed the flash download. But still no go with Amazon prim. But it did successfully install the Amazon app store and make it usable.

In the video guide, the settings menu is different and I cannot find the Advanced Settings to enable plugins.

Thanks for the continuing suggestions.

Try Boat Browser and see if Amazon works. I'm a prime member too. Its what I've been watching movies with. At least you'll know its not a flash problem. If you see an arrow on the screen, tap it and flash and the movie should load.

I do have a Flash icon app on my home screen now. When I click on it, I get the choice of opening it in chrome or in Dolphin. Whichever I choose, I get a blank web page opening up. Not sure where to go from there.

I haven't tried Boat as yet, in fact this is the first I've heard of it but I'll download it now and see how it works.

My replacement N10 arrives tomorrow.

BINGO!

Amazon Prime movies works in Boat. In fact I find this browser very intuitive and easy to use. Not sue if it is faster than Dolphin but I do think it works faster and better than Chrome.

The world of Android is very new to me but I'm learning quickly thanks to the input of members here.

Thanks again.

I use my tablet mostly for music/scores. I'm a pianist/singer in NYC, and it saves my life in that I don't have to carry around a million books when I'm playing in piano bars or for shows. I currently use an iPad for this, but its first gen and is really getting slow and freezes and randomly restarts (not good when you're in the middle of playing). I went with Nexus 10 because I also have an Android phone, and am doing more and more things through Google/Google Play/Android rather than Apple/iOS.

Other than that, Draw Something.

Well, I have to say goodbye to the Nexus 10. I've exhausted my options for video chat (hangout, talk, skype, etc). Unfortunately, the terrible sound and video qualities on all options make for a terrible chat experience on the Nexus 10.

Aside from the poor video chatting capabilities, the Nexus 10 is a great tablet. Snappy, brilliant screen, and a pleasure to work with. But this is a dealbreaker for me, I like being able to videochat with my wife and daughter while I'm away.

I want a N10 mainly for drawing. But havent seen anyone using it for that. Not even on Youtube. ¿Can any1 please make a review or a video review on how the N10 works for drawing, and the best apps suited for drawing?

I use the Note 10.1 for drawing/note taking. I have not found a stylus yet that I like for the standard tablets. The ability to draw is the same as with any standard tablet (Xoom, Asus Transformer, Nexus 7, etc...).

But does it draw smooth with no problems? What app you use for drawing, the sameone for writing? So, ¿what about drawing apps? ¿Which ones are best(even if have to pay)?

Flash works great with Firefox I've found, way better than on the N7. I just downloaded the apk from one of the many links around and it worked straight away.

Like others above, I didn't really need the nexus 10 but I am glad I bought it. I use it mostly for browsing and Flipboard, along with the odd game and YouTube. Videos in HD are impressive!

To be fair I wouldn't say there was anything I can do on the N10 that I couldn't do on my phone (Galaxy Nexus) but many things are easier on the bigger screen. E-mail, social networking etc. all work nicely on the bigger screen, video is better and critically, the desktop (or only) versions of many websites are very usable on the tablet without having to keep zooming in. The on screen keyboard is also much easier to use at the bigger size.
