Default Can't get nexus 10 to display in HD on my TV

I've searched everywhere and I can't seem to find an answer.

I'm connecting my nexus 10 to my TV via micro HDMI cable and the resolution output on the TV is only 480p. My TV automatically selects the proper resolution when a device is connected. In theory, when I connect the nexus, it should automatically display in 1080. Unfortunately, it's not. Also, I don't have any way to force the resolution higher on my TV. The display on the tablet looks a lot better than on the TV. This is while doing general web surfing and playing a movie from the play store. The movie was in HD on the tablet just not on the TV.

Is the a way to change the display settings on the tablet? The only thing I can find is the brightness settings. I don't see any settings to change the resolution on the tablet. Or, is there something that I'm doing wrong while connecting the cable. I turned the tablet and TV off when I connected the cable.

Thanks for any help.
