Can anyone recommend a clear, soft shell case that features flexible TPU material.

To me it is very nice! I was not expecting much, but wanted something on this thing. I was pleasantly surprised. Doesn't add much bulk at all. It's even a hair thinner than my iPhone 4S when it is in a similar case.

The only flaw, and I can't blame the case, is that the speaker is much quieter when lying on its back than when the phone was naked. That flaw is really LG's, or whomever came up with that asinine location for the speaker.

Skinomi Clear Full Body Skin on Nexus 4

The front and back are easy, but getting the strips on the side to get in place and adhere was a little tricky. I'm leaving the whole thing alone for a while to "set," then I'll see if the small side pieces are sticking properly. You can add more solution to slide the pieces around to adjust them, but I was concerned about adding more liquid to the side pieces because of the risk that it might seep into the phone at the seam. I'm planning on getting Google's bumpers, so maybe that will solve the problem.

I bought it on Amazon, but Skinomi is the seller so I think it's pretty much the same as if you buy on their site. They have a lifetime warranty but they do have a small S&H fee for replacements under warranty.

I have the skin too, how are the side pieces from taking it in and out of your pocket? I haven't put the side pieces on for fear that they would fall off. Also, idk of you noticed that coupon that came with the order for an additional skin protector! Basically by one get one free.

I get all mine on eBay. A lot cheaper and I've never had a problem.

Is it much bigger than the phone? I'm thinking about modding my car dock so that it charges wirelessly every time I'm in my Jeep

Got the diztronic case today, it's as nice as a case can get, but man this phone feels huge with a case.

I'd say with a case the look and feel of this phone went from a 10 to a 5.

I just ordered the Diztronic case, but that's not what I wanted to hear lol. Oh well, I really want to keep this phone protected. Best have it protected and a bit uglier than ugly all the time if the screen cracks.

It's really nice. I can't find anything wrong with it. The back has minimal branding and has a nice texture.

You mean where the clear part isn't "adhered" to the phone? I only have one small portion where it is adhered and it doesn't bother me. I can see how it would bother somebody if you cared about the aesthetics (not saying that's a bad thing).

Seidio has their Nexus 4 products listed as coming soon. No pics, yet, but those that know their products can guess how they'll look.

I'm sure you'll love the case, Diztronic compared to Kays Case for example has much better design.

I just hate a case on this phone because it's beautiful and big and thick enough already, not being able to glide your finger across that screen off the side is sad with a case.

Yeah that's true. I think I'll miss the glide as well.

I am trying to decide between the diztronic case or rearth one. Really like the way the white rearth looks on the N4. I had a diztronic case for the gnex and it provided good protection. Which one would you guys recommend?

Don't go for cheap..lol. This beauty deserves the best. I really like the way the white Rearth contrasts with the black on this phone. On the other hand it blocks the Nexus logo. The smoked diztronic one allows the Nexus logo to be seen. Yeah...yeah I know first world problems.

The rearth website mentions there being a minor fit problem near the bottom rocker and that a revised edition will be available after Dec. 11th. Also, I'm not sure how I feel about the way the corner round and then just cut off on the top and bottom. I'd rather have it go all the way across like the Diztronic to look cleaner and offer more protection.

Personally ordered the blue version and am awaiting shipment.

They really need to make a battery case in my opinion.

Just got this. It's really snug and I have plenty of access to all the ports. Also the power button and volume rocker are just as easy to press.

Nexus 4 Diztronic Hardshell Case Review

$9.99- Amazon Link
$9.99- Diztronic Link

Design

5/5

First of all, this case is EXTREMELY thin. It's only 1mm thin, making it 25% thinner than the original TPU case. The back has a non glossy Diztronic logo on it and a slot cut open for the camera and speakers. It is a bit slippery, but won't catch lint on it or attract finger prints. Unlike other shell cases, this one isn't hard to take in and out. However, you definitely want to take it out periodically to make sure debris doesn't get caught in it and scratch the case. The edges of the case just barely go over the screen making a bit of a "lip". The lip is barely there and you may be able to fit a screen protector on it. The buttons are left exposed on the case making pressing the power button and volume rockers very easy.

Protection

4/5

This case does a decent job at protecting the phone while still keeping a thin profile. The top and bottom of the case are left somewhat vulnerable, yet I understand how it would be tough to cover that part while making the case a "hardshell". Keep in mind this case is only 1mm thick, so I'm grading the protection based on the case's target audience.

Final Verdict

4.5/5

This may be the thinnest case to ever hit the market. At $9.95 you get a lot of bang for your buck; this is a high quality case made with premium materials. You can tell Diztronic took the time to make sure they got everything right. This case is so thin you won't even notice it while still giving you some protection.

Makes the phone feel quite a bit wider too. Lol when I pick it up in the dark, I have no idea if it's upside down and/or backwards.

Yeah, I'm actually leaning towards selling my bumper... It makes it too wide for me to realistically use one-handed. I might buy the Diztronic and try that out as I hear it's ultraslim. I've never been one to use a case, but this phone just feels to premium for me to trust it naked. Plus because of all the magical cracking back glass, I'm too scared to set the phone down without the bumper to lift it or a case to sit between the surface and the back.

I even left the original plastic sticker on back, lol

Diztronic case is not ultra slim, at least the TPU one is not.

I don't think the tpu case is the one people are talking about... I just ordered this one today.

Diztronic Matte Rubberized Black Ultra Thin One Piece Hard Shell Case for LG Nexus 4 - Retail Packaging

I hope it is as good as the reviews say. Anything is better than a naked phone. Quite possibly the worst thing I could do to the phone.

makes sense

I think I'm going to try the hard shell too, it's generally the type of case I stay away from, but I really dislike the TPU case, so it looks like the next best thing, diztronic makes beautiful accessories. The video review above was painful to watch ... I hope the guy goes with a script or something more organized in the future, I found myself finishing his sentences lol

I received the diztronic hard case it is much better looking in terms of size and feels better in terms of size, but with it being 75% of the size of the tpu case it is also 75% of the protection.

Wow I like that one. I have the full black case I really like how that one shows the nexus in the back.

Oops I didn't multi-quote but I meant the clear frost S designed one on the back.

Man all these cases make the phone look even bigger and more dinosaur-like. Which case is better: Diztronic white or Rearth Ringke Slim white?

A friend of mine bought both in black and he recommends the Ringke. I think he said it adds very little bulk and gives better corner protection according to him.

I think I'll be going for the Ringke white.
