I ordered mine on the 20th at noon, got the shipping conformation at 3:31AM on the 21st and it should be delivered on the 22nd by 10AM at my work!! I wonder if they are running low on stock and are using the "ships by March 29th" to cover them until the next batch shows up??

Device shipped yesterday and is 60 miles away, but I have to wait until Monday to get it. Now the anxiousness sets in.

That's the same case I was looking at. Just picked up my Nexus today and was scoping that case on amazon. The buttons looked iffy though so I read the reviews and sure enough, lots of complaints about the buttons. Let me know how they feel to push. Meanwhile I'll be ordering the official bumper, as the poetic ones still seem to be falling apart on everyone.

Just got mine! Got it 2 days after ordering, which is crazy quick.

Kind of confused though... Went to T-mobile and was told $30 plan is no longer available, so got the $50 500 MB plan. Called support and asked about it, she said they have a $30 plan with unlimited talk/text and 2.5 GB data. How is it $20 less with 2GB more data??? Anyway, she said it will kick in April 9th.... See what happens....

Noo! The $30 unlimited plan is web exclusive. You have to buy the code from Walmart online

You don't need to buy anything from Walmart. All you have to do is order a micro sim kit from T-Mobile, have it sent to you, then go through the activation procedure online. Doing so will allow you to pay by refill card or credit card depending on which you prefer. The kit is found here: http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-phone/T-Mobile-Micro-SIM-Card-Activation-Kit

Or just walk into a TMO corporate store and say you want to get your N4 rolling like I did...within 10 min I was done and done.

Hola!

I ordered my phone and it should get here in a few days--I'm super excited!
However, I thought I might post something that'll hopefully be useful to prospective buyers.

Note: this guide is intended to help those with T-Mobile service already. If you're a new customer, simply buy the SIM online (http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/phone-sim-card), activate it, and choose your plan (including the infamous $30 plan.).

To start, I have T-Mobile; more specifically, the $30 Wal-Mart plan (100 voice minutes, unlimited text and data, throttled at 5GB). I was concerned about the SIM card. My phone (Exhibit II 4G, or, Galaxy Exhibit) uses a mini-SIM. As most of you know, the Nexus 4 uses a micro-SIM. The mini-SIM can be cut down to micro-SIM size (cutters can be found on Amazon and eBay for as little as $5) in order to get your cell service up and running. However, some may be a little leery of this option (though it seems fairly easy), as I was. So, I took to the phone to call my local T-Mobile stores to see what they could do for me.

The first store I called said that they could replace the SIM (as opposed to trimming it for me), however, I may be charged a fee for the new one plus an activation fee. In certain cases, he said, the fees can be waived if, for instance, you have been a customer for a while. Ultimately, though, to find out if I would be required to pay, I would need to make the trip to the store. So I called the next store on the list.

The second store I called said that they would trim my mini-SIM--for free. No switching SIMs and no fees or otherwise. Success!

An alternative would be to buy the SIM ahead of time on their website (currently, the price sits at $10 w/ free shipping), and then activate the new SIM.

Anyways, I plan to make the trip to the second store I called when my new phone gets here so that they can trim the card for me.

As with all things, YMMV (your mileage may vary). But it pays to call ahead!

Tip: in my experience, calling support was useless--they constantly transferred me until finally the line disconnected after the first ring on my third transfer.
The online chat representative urged me to purchase the SIM online. I declined.

I hope this helps!

Edit: spelling corrections.

About three weeks before I ordered my N4, I ordered a normal SIM from T-Mobile and activated it with the $30 plan. When my N4 arrived this week, I went to the TM store and they gave me a new micro SIM free of charge.

And holy smokes, this phone is amazing!

I'm not sure what you're asking about. If it's about the SIM, they just asked for my phone number and PIN, then scanned the new card and handed it to me.

EDIT: If it's about the plan, I was originally on the T-Mobile $30 plan, but since they don't have 3G in the town where I worked, I switched to Boost and canceled my TMo. After I switched jobs, I went back to T-Mobile. I ported my original cell number to Google Voice, so the latest was just a new activation.

Hi. I am a new "post"er.... Here's some information that might be helpful.

The $30 monthly 4G plan is becoming harder and harder to find on the t-mobile site.... but if you search hard enough, you will come across it...looks like they are trying to migrate everyone to the $50 a month plan...

If you are already a T-mobile $30/month 4G (w/100 min talk), then you should just be able to either go to a T-mobile store where they can cut your existing sim card into a micro sim size card for the Nexus 4 (note, they may or may not charge you..) Or you can find a trimmer on e-bay.

But if you are new to T-mobile, then you can order the micro sim kit from t-mobile site....

Woohoo just picked mine up tonight & I can't sleep! Good riddance Verizon. Have fun with your big announcements about big announcements and your hideous bloatware and your grossly overpriced plans.

OK so I know there are 100,000 varying stories of the $30 plan. 2cents on my experience. Order the phone from google & sim from T-mobile. The plan did pop up as an option online but was not able to process so I called. The girl on the phone after playing dumb for a minute & pretending I had to go to Walmart did eventually get me on the plan after I insisted I was looking at the plan available to new customers on my screen. It's so strange that they offer this plan and yet pretend not to but it wasn't a terrible experience or anything.

Awesome...Welcome to the Forums!

That's the outlook a lot of people have when going with a nexus device. You'll never be on the outside looking in as far as software goes, and the hardware on the n4 IMO is very very good where you should be cool for a few years.

Congrats & Enjoy, pop in to let us know how your enjoying it!

It's awesome right!

I say it all the time, Vanilla Android is way android was meant to be. Clean and simple! Once you really start using a nexus device it makes it very hard to go back and use anything else.

Enjoy!!!

Wooo! Hooo!

Just ordered my Nexus 4 16GB... after some angst at having ordered an HTC One unlocked and finding out that it didn't come with the T-mobile 1700mhz support and the trade-up special that would have given me a $100 rebate would be gone if I had re-ordered from T-Mobile.

SO!!! Yea! Nexus 4 on the way... although there I hear they may announce an updated rev of it at Google I/O?

Congrats... but...

Isn't it $470 from t-mo? Why not get it direct from Google for $299/$349?

Yea.. but your paying almost 40% more for the phone that way... $130 more. I was just asking... some people don't realize you can buy it direct for less.

But, to each his own.

Yeah, many people like the paying it over a long period of time even if it's more. It's how carrier make quite a bit of money. Microsoft might be trying their hands at something similar for the new xbox. I've heard a rumor that says they will sell it cheap for like 250 or 300 and require 2 years of xbox live gold membership at 10-15 a month, or the full version for like 500 or 600.

Yeah, that's actually not too bad. 428 instead of 388 isn't horrible. The only other downside is that taking it subsidized prevents you from using the 30 dollar plan.

Hmm... my math says $19 + $17 * 24 = $427.

Are you saying you don't pay any tax if you take the payment plan on the down payment and monthly payments? You might want to verify that... I don't think you get out of paying tax on your monthly bill.

No, I just tried it, I put the Nexus 4 into a cart, and it added $29 sales tax (which would be 7%, my tax on the full device price) to the down payment. Here is an image of the cart:

You should double check your order... you paid your $19 down and sales tax on the full price of the device.

Granted, yes, they don't charge shipping. So, still $130 - $13 = $117 more for the device. And since you do have to pay tax, you will also not have to pay tax on the extra $130 that you won't be paying for the device.

Ok... so I guess I don't see where you got the $408 figure...

you are paying $427 plus tax no shipping with t-mobile (whether you choose the payment plan or the one time payment)

or you pay $349 plus tax and shipping if you buy it from Google play.

which was my original point. Ok.... I think the horse is dead!

Can't wait to get my Nexus 4!

It really is. This is my first android device so a lot of things are quite confusing. I'm still trying to fiddle around with learning how to customize my home and lock screen.

You should take a look through Obligatory Screenshots/Homescreens Thread and if you see anything you like, ask them how they did it.

Woohoo just ordered my 16gb nexus 4 direct from Google. 279.
My 1 yo HTC One V died Saturday after about 30 seconds of heavy rain (whilst Ingressing, every1 else was busy clingfilming up)

Ordered at 1.20pm (14th May), it said due to ship on 17th May. Received an email at 6.30pm saying dispatched. So hoping to get it tomorrow.

Sticking with my Talkmobile contract (no choice, which still has 1 year to go) Unlimited data, 400 mins, 1000 texts 20 pm

Well, I was hoping google would announce the rumored 32GB/LTE version of the Nexus 4 yesterday. But, it was not forth coming. I still wonder if we will see it soon and I should return my 16GB version and wait a month or so to see if it becomes a reality.

I wouldn't count on it, the only device that seems to be imminent is the Google version of the s4. Nexus phones have been on a one year product cycle so I wouldn't expect a new one until at least October/November.

Can you let us know if the one you received has the two little nipples on the bottom to stop it slipping & raise the speaker slightly? Thanks
