Tried that for a while but every time it got to the cart it failed. I made more progress last time and eventually got one. Seriously pathetic on Google's part. This is actually worse than last time.

After the last time I would have thought besides trying to get inventory back into the channel they'd have really worked on the transaction processing. Once a customer has items in their cart a good online retailer tries their damnedest to make sure nothing happens to that cart - it's called letting the $$ leave the store. Google has a LOT to learn about managing an online retail store. I can handle the initial "out of stock" message - it's an item in high demand, I get it. I can even cut them a *small* amount of slack for allowing me to click on the item when it's available but getting the "nothing in your cart" on the following screen (though that's so wrong). But letting me get items in my cart and repeatedly blowing up on the proceed to checkout? That's just totally craptastic in 2012 for any online retailer of this size.

True. I don't know who manages Google Play store but whoever is the head of it should be canned. I haven't experienced something this crappy in a looong time.

RANT MODE
this was a joke... its quite aggravating no matter how much i like google... first of all, their play store shouldnt be crashing like it does... if it really is that much traffic, they should have learned from 2 weeks ago.

IMO they need to allow folks to buy it anyways, and not charge their cards until it actually ships... not let us fool around with stupid "error messages" and empty carts and refreshing pages like crazy... even those that got in, it says shipping 1-3 weeks... so why would it matter to let everyone just order the damn thing... at the very least, let us f*cking pre-order it!!!

if LG is really having supply issues meeting demand, and i was google, i would not use them again.. this is blunty unacceptable... if they have really sold that much, they better give out some figures, bc all this smells like no one knows what they are doing.

Yea they're not the first people selling a high-demand product. Many companies have done similar things and handled the situation much better.

OK, was finally able to complete an order for 2 Nexus 4 16GB just before 4 PM CST. Since they added banner to Play store performance has been a *little* better - in that hitting the checkout button doesn't blow up your cart anymore. I'd get the yellow fubar msg at top of screen, hit F5 and checkout button would go blue again. Repeat as needed (and I needed a LOT) but at least the damn thing stopped blowing up the cart and sending me back to square 1 all the time. I'll update with estimated shipping date/delay when I get the email.

Update: email confirmation says ships in 1-2 weeks (guessing more like 2)

Looks like the ship date for the 8 GB model is now 6-7 weeks. Yikes. Mine is 4-5 which is ridiculous in itself.

OMFG! After almost 4 hours, I was able to purchase a 16GB woot woot! I was done with it. Then I started looking at (Nexus 4 will be available for purchase later today : Android) and felt compelled to give it one more try. I refreshed ONCE and clicked on the "proceed" button and walaaa I was able to purchase it. It seems that they actually have a whole lot in stock this time, it's just difficult to place the order because of prolly millions of people trying to do it at the same time. I'm content now. I also got the email verification almost instantly.

Google is probably just putting it later on the shipping time to keep expectations down. Wouldn't you rather be suprised and happy if it arrived earlier?
