Do you think they shipped it or made a mistake charging the card? I emailed and am waiting for a response. This happen to anyone else? I know they said they only charge card when shipping so this is interesting to me....
Same happened to me. As of right now the charge is still pending. However, in the faq section when I ordered it said there would be only a hold of $1 whether a credit or debit card was used.
When I ordered mine it was on pending for a few days. Then when it actually got shipped they sent me a email saying my phone was shipped and they're charging the card.
They charged my card as well (although the charge is still pending). Looks like they are also charging me that extra dollar because the total should be exactly $395 but it is at $396. Wtf Google?
this happened to me as well when i ordered on the 13th, but got backordered. they hold it to make sure the money is there, then after a week they refund it until it actually ships.
When I ordered on Tues Nov 13th, my card wasn't charged until Fri the 17th when I received the shipping email with the tracking #
So if I'm reading this right people are ordering now, being told there's a 5 week wait period, but their cards are being charged now? If this is correct, that's absolutely absurd!

Google contacts the credit card company and tells them they have a charge for $x and wants to know if the card has the money available. Then the credit card puts a hold on the card for the money until either the real charge is made or their hold time limit passes. During this time depending on the policy of the credit card company they will show either the full amount or they may just show $1 this is determined by the credit card company / bank and not Google. The pending charge will show until the credit card company / bank removes it due to their policy concerning how long they hold these type of postings.
Then when Google ships you product they will place the real charge on your card and it may once again show as pending for a day or so and then will become a true charge.

This would explain why the $391 charge to my card appeared after I ordered, disappeared last night & reappeared again this morning. BTW i'm on the 2 to 3 week track.

Not for nothing, Google shouldn't be charging anyone anything until they have stock available and it's ready to ship,,, case closed! This whole thing with charges, holds, $1 fees is just a masterful mess on so many levels.
I received an email this morning stating that my order has shipped. I tried to track it but that didn't work.
how long did the original say it would ship? Mine was 4-5 weeks. I emailed them yesterday and they said if the entire amount was deducted from the account then the phone shipped. They said I did not get a shipping email because they are having system issues and I will get one soon. Not sure I believe them though. I hope it really did ship, but I will believe it when I see it!

As soon as you get that email that means your phone has shipped, the tracking usually shows that the label was created, and then the next day will actually show the whereabouts of your package.
At the rate they are going this looks like some fly by night company handling all this instead of a company the size of Google.

I had originally been charged for the phone and was given the 7–8 week delivery estimate. The fact that I had been charged had me optimistic. However it was just a hold and the money was back in my account this morning. Now not so optimistic lol. Still hoping for no more than a 3 week wait. My atrix is really starting to fail...

I agree, all those weeks, and then it ships the same week? To exceed expectations they should be including free bumpers, or a $25 gift card to the play store Atleast! However, not a single peep from them! If this was Apple screwing up this much, it would be on the cover of Time Magazine.
So after being told that since the money was all taken out the phone shipped, i see today that the money is back in my account....so sad... guess I have to wait a few weeks!!! Maybe they will have bumpers by then!
Received the ship notification on the 27th, but the tracking number is still showing as not received by UPS yet. Pending charge hit my card on the 27th, posted/cleared on the 2nd. Will call Customer Service tomorrow if the tracking number doesn't update by tomorrow morning.
The hold on my money was released to day. Probably by my bank because they decided to do some transferring of it too. Hoping they start on the 2-3 week people this weekend. Or are there still 1-2 week people without a shipping notice.
Ordered yesterday and my money was taken but my order has not been shipped.

Interesting thing just happened. I ordered on Nov. 27th, and google put a "pending" charge on my account for the N4. I figured they would leave it pending and it would actually "post" to my account (and be billable through my card company) when they shipped my device.
Anyway a week later, today, I get a notification from my credit card company that there was a large purchase (I set up an alert for charges over $250) on my card. I log in to check my account and I can see that there are now two pending charges from google for my N4. I'm not sure if this is a good sign and they will be shipping my device soon (maybe the old charge will disappear and the new charge will be the one to post) or if a mistake was made. I was in the 2-3 week shipping range so I doubt that's the case though.

Ah, I see. This explains everything, I didn't see your post at first.
Update: Just received the shipment email with the tracking number. This is interesting since my original shipment estimate was 2-3 weeks.
