Default Is At&t recognizing the google nexus?

Just wondering if at&t recognizes the google nexus and applies the appropriate data plan on their own or if you have to call them?

It's unlocked, so if you have a phone with a data plan at the moment your good. However best bet would be to visit an at&t corporate store and pick up a new sim.
