Default Anyone getting 4.2.2

So there's been news that 4.2.2 has been released for Nexus devices. I'm wondering if anyone has got it for their Nexus 4? I assume that someone would post but thought I would ask.

I'm also wondering if it's carrier dependent? I assume no and the update comes directly form Google?

It was pushed to the Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Galaxy Nexus. Not sure why Google is holding off on the Nexus 4 at the moment, but as far as I know 4.2.2 has not begun rolling out for us yet. There are some 4.2.2 builds over at XDA if you're the rooting type.

I've seen the discussions about the Nexus 7 getting it, though I have a Nexus 7 and no luck so far. Wonder how that is determined?

Nexus 4 is the latest device and the last to get the update?

I wouldn't say the Nexus 4 is the last to get it. This article just says "Nexus devices" and shows the notification drop down from the Nexus 4.

http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/13/android-4-2-2-update-reveals-small-assortment-of-minor-tweaks/

Of course, it could have been installed manually for all I know.

Someone on another forum posted (so take this with a grain of salt) that his Nexus 4 just received the update. So we'll just have to be patient. I know from experience with my Nexus 7, that constantly checking for the update will only cause it to take longer for it to hit your device. It took FOREVER for my N7 to get 4.2.1 because I kept checking every 2 hours.

Android 4.2.2 OTA for the Nexus 4 is a go, kills unofficial LTE [updated] | Android Central

Its rolling out.

I checked and nothing yet, I believe it might take some days.

Just checked an nothing on my N4, however the Register said yesterday that they hadn't found any evidence of it getting to N4s yet. I guess the changes must be mostly tablet-related.

UPDATE: Android 4.2.2 spreads to Nexus 4 with new battery sounds (update: no LTE)
Where is the proof that checking often delays the update? Perhaps it still cam to your device when it was going to anyway?

If you have a source about this then great!

I just deleted the Data in Google Services Framework on my N7 and I got the update after reboot. It's only 47.7 MB so no big changes..?

EDIT:

Did the same on the N4 and nothing...

Don't worry, I can't see any difference on the N7 (apart from the build number!).

Its added switches to the WiFi and Bluetooth notifications in the drop down list, that's a good new feature for me.

The source is me. Yes, you're right, it could have came at the exact moment I checked it. However, I checked it, it said I was already up to date. I deleted the Google Framework data, rebooted, then checked again and the update was there.

Was it coincidence? Probably. I just know that everyone on the N7 forums here was getting it before I eventually did.

I got it this morning.
Anyone notice any baseband changes?

(Other than LTE doesn't work)

I am wondering about signal strength or an annoying polling issue I noticed and occasional slow handoff / data setup

For those who have got it, does it remove root and does something like RootKeeper keep root for this OTA update?

I manually updated. It removes root...but OTA Rootkeeper works like a charm.

Will confirm this answer.

Also worth noting that I had to reflash custom recovery and that ADB is, well, wonky now.... If that matters to anyone else.

Hiya Chaps,

Could someone just clarify for the easiest/best way to update?
I have Root and CWM installed, and from what I understand the update wont install because of CWM? Is it best to download the .zip and install it via CWM or am I way off?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You need to root. This has been a feature of cyanogenmod for quite some time.

I just nudged my N4 to go 4.2.2 OTA.

Go to settings > apps > all apps > Google Services Framework - force stop then clear data, then re-check for update.

Default What does it offer?

I just received notification the 4.2.2 is available on my Nexus 4.

Is there a listing anywhere what it fixes ( and what it breaks, requiring 4.2.3 to be released)?

Those of you making the leap to 4.2.2, please report back on if you notice any differences.

I got mine today after I forced it through the settings. The fixes are as what is on every android blog and changelog; namely long pressing the Bluetooth and Wifi tiles can turn on or off and saves you a few presses. I haven't tried to see if it will minimize the Bluetooth skipping yet but at the same time this Jellybean update will be the final one and ready it for KLP

Anyone having an issue with the notification sounds making a screeching noise with 4.2.2?

Got the update on my Nexus 4 and 7 at the same time. Cleared the data on Google Services Framework and it came through. I tried this earlier and it didn't work. Worked within minutes of each device this time.

Did the same trick. And on the 209th time it worked!

It's slightly disturbing though it said "Download on Wi-Fi until Feb 15"

That means I essentially had a 35 minute window to get my update??

Anyone know what to make of that??
