I just installed your recovery, when I booted to it I could just highlight (using volume up and down) choices (eg mount, advanced, wipe etc) but not choose them (I used the power button)

Getting my Nexus 5 later on today. Will be more than happy to test this.

Someone over at XDA tried already and was unsuccessful, it wouldn't boot into recovery.

Yea I spoke with shimp208 about his build. He tried build from scratch and I've not seen his configs to know where he might went wrong going that route. I used the aosp device tree and prebuilt kernel, as did Troy_Dees (TWRP) who has TWRP available for the N5 too.

We have a booting img, so I'm on the right track at least. utkanos informed me about some possible issues, but not sure if they will be issues or not yet, we'll see.

Awesome, thanks for working on this buddy.
I don't really like TWRP, I love CWM.

As I said before, my Nexus 5 is out for delivery so I should have it soon, will be more than happy to test any builds you have.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here. Can you expand?

This is a custom recovery that will replace the stock android recovery.

Ah, there is a script in the android os that makes the device auto flash the Stock recovery every time it's booted up. So if you flash custom recovery, it gets overwritten by stock recovery as soon as you not the device into the system. Let me locate the file since I forgot the name.

Edit: The file is /system/recovery-from-boot.p. By deleting it, you stop this process. Once deleted, flash custom recovery through the bootloader one more time and it will stick. I would back up this file though.

You have to navigate to the root directory with a root enabled file explorer, and then go to the system sub-folder. Should be in there

You're looking for a file called recovery-from-boot.p, that's the reflashing script. Here's a shot from my device.

Where does CWM store the backups?
I would like to store a copy on Windows PC.
...and can I rename the backup without MD5 error? How?

Should be under a folder called "Clockwork mod" on the internal of the phone when you plug it into a PC.

As for renaming it, I have no clue. I usually don't mess with backup names as long as it includes the date and time I backed up.

You can rename the backup folder name just make sure you have no spaces or untraditional chars in the name, like if I wanted to rename the folder name to the name of my rom, I would name it like this: KitKatExplosionRom, try to avoid periods, hyphens, and slashes in the renaming of the folder name and you shouldn't have any MD5 mismatch issues at that point...

In Nexus5/Internal storage/clockworkmod I have 3 files RECOVERY_VERSION File, NOMEDIA File, and SETTINGS File. That's it no MD5's.

When I backed up on CWM, I saved to SD card even though there is not one on the phone. Was this incorrect?

I notice most folks seem to be using this. I was really happy with TWRP on my Nexus 7. Is there a reason for preferring CWM Recovery on the Nexus 5? I really liked TWRP's touch UI.

I've never used CWM, but not because I had a reason not to, just worked out that way. On my Nexus One I used Amon Ra.
