Would be interesting if true, not exactly a long wait until Tuesday to find out. Though it's a little concerning that press invites haven't supposedly been sent.

I hear ya, not hearing about press invites has me a bit concerned. Don't they usually leak those about a week before the event?

Artem Ruslovski's (spelled that wrong but I'm mobile right now) g+ page is actually pretty interesting. He's posted 5 or so leaks he doesn't feel confident enough about posting to AP.

One of them was the release date for 4.4 being listed as October 31st, but the information was about a month old so could obviously change

Could be more relevant as the nearer rumored date approaches with no press announcement

It's quite possible the N5 could be supplied with 2 different batteries, if the chassis is based on the G2 then if I'm not very much mistaken then the Korean Version of the G2 has a removable 2300 battery whilst the G2 I have here in the UK comes with a 3000 fixed battery

The issue is that the Nexus 5 has a smaller frame, so fitting a larger battery in it would be tough. Though a second model may exist, we've not seen any concrete evidence like an FCC approval documents.

Not that I believe in this double battery rumor, but they wouldn't need another FCC approval if all they did was double the storage and add a larger battery.

Well, since I have doubts that it would fit in the same Nexus 5 shell, that's have to make a completely different model with a separate model number as a result. Thus it would have have to be certified again by the fcc. At least that's my logic.

If all they did was make the back cover a little deeper to accommodate a slightly larger battery, would that still require another FCC approval?

It might, because FCC documents have exact dimensions of the device listed on it. If you change any of the 3 dimensions, it would have to either be amended or have a whole separate entry.

One thing I would like is the IR blaster but it does not seem like the N5 will have it.

Oh yeah! So, not being familier with the fcc process, is there other certs that need to be completed that we are aware of?

Sometimes blogs post if a device goes through WiFi certification, but most slide under the radar without us noticing. This one might have as well for all we know.

That new phone icon is rubbing me the wrong way. I'm hoping the newest leaks arent the final stylings

http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/10/11/new-nexus-5-kitkat-leak-shows-transparent-nav-and-status-bars-new-app-drawer-and-wallpaper-possible-always-on-listening-mode/

Also not a large fan of that 4x4 app drawer, having the icons that large makes it look childish

All phones with the s800 cost support this in hardware. (G2, note 3). They need the software component.

Those leaks are just prototypes of the phone and and early build of 4.4. I mean its great to see an actual video but this thing needs to be announced already.

So what's the max people are willing to pay for this phone given the rumored specs?

In my mind the screen size makes it more one-hand friendly than the Note 3, it has the same CPU as the Note 3, and will run stock Android. I'd probably still buy it even if it was $600 like all other contract phones.

450$ after tax for 32 GB.

Though I probably will be getting the 16 GB, in which case, 400$.

Any lower is just icing on the cake.

Anyone else see a nexus commercial this morning? I was watching ABC around 7:45 and turned around to catch the very end of a Nexus commercial...For a split second I saw the moving lights for the Nexus background and then a white screen that google.com/nexus. It wasn't that commercial for the Nexus 7 with the kid who gives a speech either, I know what that sounds like after hearing it 10000 times.

I want to know is, is it true about the memory/mAH differences
(i.e. 16GB 2300 mAH/32GB 3000mAH)

That's what is going to sell me not the storage size. GB I can work around, more mAH is where it's at!

That's what is going to sell me not the storage size. GB I can work around, more mAH is where it's at!
I wouldn't count on the 3000mAh battery rumor. We've seen no concrete evidence to this point regarding it, just a random rumor that was repeated all over the blogosphere which couldn't be substantiated.

I didn't think so, but one can dream.

Also, what is this CAT4 cert.? Is that technically LTE-A or something else? I was confused about that.

I don't like it's LTE-A. I think LTE-A is cat 6, 7, or 8. But it does mean that it has the ability to pull faster LTE speeds than most current generation phones. I know in the Note 3 forum that some people are reporting being able to pull faster speeds than their previous phones, which could mean that it has this as well.

My prediction is it won't come out tomorrow. Nexus 5 and Kit Kat will come out on the 31st. Perfect for Halloween.

I feel like it would be a wise decision to do pre-orders this time! I don't want to go thru the headache I went thru to get my Nexus 4 again..

I agree. But we have no idea if that will happen or not. Even if it does happen, pre-orders could turn into a mess.

I believe that they may unveil it today, not for purchase until the end of the month.

I've lost most of my faith in the unveil today since there are still no reports of press invites being received

It didn't tip you off last week that no one got invites?

They usually get a week for the invites. So they can make plans for travel...
