Default Dash cam - anyone tried using the Nexus 5 as a dash cam?

Was wondering if anyone has yet tried using their Nexus 5 as a dash cam using some of the popular apps out there.

Specifically wondering if you have used it as a dash cam while using it to play music and use Google Maps Navigation at the same time.

Has anyone tried this? Do you guys think it is fast enough? Seems a pain to fumble with two devices, but would a separate phone, or dedicated dash cam device work better?

Any recommended docks for this?
What apps did you use?
What car did you mount it on?
Got any videos?
