Thought this was cool: Nexus 7 has "smart cover" sensor - YouTube
Leaves the door open for 3rd party "smart covers" - though the sensor is in an odd place...

I was just reading about that.

What else did they cram in there I wonder?

I got my case today (along with another brown box ;D) and it's pretty much identical to the KeysCase one mentioned above. Its a lot more rigid than I was expecting and has a little velcro flap that sits under the device to hold it in place. I've not tried it out properly yet, but it looks like it has all the correct holes cut out.

My case came in today too.

Not as much fun as I expect my N7 will be.

col, just stare at your case imagining you shiny new N7 in it. I don't have a case to stare at, just waiting for my account to be charged.

That won't work. I've already started to talk to it. I think it's time we part company until the rest of it shows up.

I can tell you that KF cases aren't going to work. I tried the case from my KF and it didn't fit at all. The N7 is just a tad bit taller. I could've forced it in there, but the case would've blocked access to all the buttons. The power button and volume rocker on the N7 are on the right hand side while on the KF, the power is on the bottom.

Tad bit taller and possibly thicker.

My KF case works, but it doesn't close properly. It might be ok once the leather stretches a bit tho.

Received my Moko case from Amazon today.

The build quality is very good. Doesn't feel cheap. On the other hand, It doesn't feel like rich leather either.

A few rain drops on it.

It has some storage pockets. One thing I didn't think about, if you have something in those, when you close the cover those items will be sitting on the screen. The black flap you see has velcro to hold the N7 in the case after you fold it under the N7.

I don't really like the way it sits and the way it folds. It is not as stable as it could be. It should have just 3 folds, not 4.

Since I don't have my Nexus yet, I don't know how it fits. It will be ok for now, but I'll probably order a good 'smart' case when they start coming out. (At least until Apple sues)

That's similar to the case I have...only problem I have it that the back feels gorgeous and it's a shame to cover it.

The KF is definitely thicker. No question. But if you've got a flap that velcros on one side couple with the N7 being taller that's not a huge issue. The biggest issue is access to the buttons.

Here's my KF case ($13.20 delivered):

As you can see in the first picture, it takes more than gravity for it to close. (I suspect that will improve in time):

Controls are a bit awkward to find since they are close to the case, but the ports are good:

It does stay closed if I close it, but barely:

The leather is nice and I like the case.

I'm not familiar with them. They have a good rating. You might try reading user reviews of some of their other cases.

I can't get the links to work right. Click on their company name in the other link I posted.

Most are good reviews, the only problems are very spaced out. One had shipping issues, solved by Amazon; another had a power button issue, and one got the wrong color. Mostly they have rave reviews. I ordered one and I'll let you know.

Poetic Slim Book

Poetic Tribook

Moko

Moko Folding I like the swivel on that one too

Moko Slim-fit

Your Poetic hard case is very similar to my cheap $13 case, except for the magnet. Of course I WILL get a magnet in mine to do the same thing.

My HP Touchpad case (same design) is Poetic too.

It's difficult to get a realistic level of protection from thinner materials without making the device wear the equivalent of rubber pants, which is not always the desired aesthetic choice for many users.

You find any different ones?

You posted another case that looked pretty cool and this case looks great too. Thin, light, and classy looking. (Yes, tight leather will stretch and become perfect with a little wear.)

I'll post pics of the rooCASE I ordered when it arrives, but I already know it's more bulky than this one.

I see I have found a cadre of similar minded accessory nuts in this forum.
Excellent... (tenting fingers)

I wasn't implying there are different ones that you should post, just that I wish there were some more sleek options. I've already expressed my desire for something that doesn't protect the back at all - I want a bracket that snaps around the edge of the tablet, with a "smart cover-esque" flap that goes over the front. That's all. Thin, sleek, protects the glass and makes it easier to carry.

Barring that, I'd accept a very thin, hard back cover. Not looking for drop protection here, just scuff resistance.

I've ordered a waterproof case, I'll let you know what I think of it when it comes, I'm quite looking forward to reading/watching TV in the bath! Also it'll be useful on holiday, I wouldn't take it to the beach otherwise.
I'm now just looking for a neoprene type pouch with a magnet in to transport the thing.

Question Poetic Tribook

I just ordered this one....never having a tablet let alone a cover can anyone point out any red flags on this case for me.... or was it a decent choice. Thinness and smart cover were critical.

Thanks for this link - its the only hard case I can seem to find for the nexus 7, so I may end up buying as well

I am looking for something in the realm of an otterbox or ballistic type case for this...if anyone sees one please post it. I have an 8 year old that will want to get his mitts on this, and sometimes he has butterfingers!

I contacted otterbox regarding if they were coming out with a nexus 7 case, and sadly this was their reply:

Dear Thomas,
Unfortunately, we do not have plans to develop a case for that device. I would recommend keeping an eye on our website, as it will have the most up to date information for every new release. Please feel free to reply to this email if you have any additional questions.
Thank You,

Has anyone seen these:

https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Nexus_7_Cover_Dark_Grey?id=nexus_7_cover&feature=a ccessories#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDExMSwiZGV2aWNlLW5leHVz XzdfY292ZXIiXQ

The back looks similar to the back of the actual device. Not yet available in the UK so will have to wait to get one.

Picked this one up since its listed as a TPU case. Should work exactly for what i need.

Amazon.com: KaysCase S-Line TPU Case Cover for Google Nexus 7 inch Tablet Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (Black): Electronics

For $10 shipped, not a bad deal.

I completely agree!!!

This is such an elegantly thin device, why make it so thick to carry around?

I am looking for a thin as possible case to just protect from scratches, not from fall (let's face it, it is a false sense of security anyways).

I would like to see one that matches the tapered contour of the edges and wraps around it like a glove. I have one for the ipad 2 and love it.

Or maybe a silicone sleeve that also has a face cover.

The one i posted above should be close to what you want. TPU cases are a usually a little thicker than a silicone case but its more of a rigid design. Will add minimal bulk.

I normally just do a TPU case with a screen protector and call it good on my electronics.

Plus, a stand to watch movies is a must.

Found this one on Google+: treegloo.com

Looks like a little book, but there a ton of colors. Pricing isn't too bad for something you get to pick your colors with, along with other choices as well.
