Default Will we see a otterbox or similar case?

Some kind of rugged case or do we just get the google case?

I would imagine. It took forever for them to release it for the Flyer (if they ever did), but devices that are really popular, there should be one.

I hope Seidio releases a case, and I hope it even includes a kickstand! I got the Seidio Extended Active Combo case for my Thunderbolt, and it has a plastic kickstand that is nowhere near as good as the metal one, but it gets the job done.
Also I just recently ordered the Seidio Active Extended case for my dad's Galaxy Nexus, and it includes a metal kickstand and it just arrived today, it's pretty nice.

I want a genuine leather folio. Not any of this pleather stuff. That's the only thing that I envy about iPhone users. They have EVERYTHING. Carbon fiber, real leather, even freaking bamboo! I wish I had a bamboo case for my evo

Not to mention some of those 3D printed cases with the really cool designs. I want one of those.

Like the idea of a case with a kickstand. Hopefully they can make one that's not too bulky.

Slap a Seidio Active case on it with an XO Skin and it'd look pretty badass in my opinion. And you could go anywhere with it - boat, beach, pool, etc. That's my plan.

Edit because I can't wait for my N7 to arrive: Camping, tailgating. Even take it into a game and tether to my Nexus - stream my HD Slingbox to keep up with another game. It'd still be small enough to tuck in a coat pocket and would disappear in a backpack.

Based on what I've seen happen in the past, Nexus 7 accessories will appear quickly and in diversity relative to its popularity in sales.

I haven't seen any articles crowing about pre-order numbers yet, I just know I ordered my 7 on 7/7!

I opted in for the availability email on the Google case.

Some KaysCase products I'm interested in:

Amazon.com: KaysCase SlimBook Leather Case Cover for Google Nexus 7 inch Tablet Auto Sleep/Wake with Built-in Stand (Black): Electronics

(6 colors available)

The 2 piece detachable case looks good too, and has more functions, but I went with the SlimBook because it's slimmer.

I posted this in another thread, but I've pre-ordered this case from rooCASE just because I like the quality of their stuff:
Amazon.com: rooCASE Dual-View Multi Angle (Black) Leather Folio Case Cover for Google Nexus 7 Tablet: Electronics

EDIT: looks like this one has an integrated "smart wake" magnet as well!

If I get a case, it will most certainly have to have a cut-out in back for the speaker.

Kindle Fire's have speakers on the bottom edge, so cases intended for the Fire would not be very good options IMO

I like this case. It looks like all the ports are open, cut out for the camera and holes in the back for the speaker.

It looks like a whole lot of cases just hit Amazon recently. Some are even sold as packages with screen protectors and chargers.

I'm a fan of rooCASE. I've posted all over about how well the case on my Iconia A500 had held up.

In this economy there must be some healthy background buzz going on about this tab for there to be such a fast response by accessory makers.

I see it as a positive.

True i usually hate increasing the form factor of my gadgets.
But cell phones typically have Gorilla Glass, and cell phones are also a bit more death-gripable then tablets.
lol

But since the nexus 7 only has Corning "scratch resistant" glass...you may want to shop around a little and consider some sort of protection.
10 to 20 bucks could save you from a smashed screen.

Just a thought (:

Whoa is it really only $15 shipped from Amazon? And does the folding cover/stand piece detach from the actual case part?

That's pretty cool. I want one.

EDIT: this is the one I found when I searched Amazon. Much cheaper for some reason

I just ordered this one, $13.20 shipped: http://www.amazon.com/YooMee-Amazon-Android-Leather-Multi-Angle/dp/B007V9O2FC/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A1ULPX6MZIVYW9

It's for the Kindle and reportedly doesn't cover any ports or controls. source

There are other colors too: Amazon.com At a Glance: YooMee

Now if I hadn't cancelled my first order (just 16 gb N7) to reorder (16 gb + case), I'd be a bit richer.

This could be a winner for me. Along with a simple pouch for everyday transportation this would let me read in the bath!

Proporta BeachBuoy Waterproof Google Nexus 7 Case

Does anyone know if the touch would still work inside a case like this? And if it does then how?

Has anyone seen a jogging solution for a 7 inch tab, i.e. so you can run and listen to music?

Some sort of super minimalist backpack would be great. I'd like to ditch my old iPod touch 2nd gen once and for all, but as I've alluded to, it's useful for running.

Seems a lot of weight bouncing around. any holster type of thing would need to be pretty snug. Let me hunt a bit.

charlie, I figured if there was one, it would be for the Kindle Fire on Amazon, but alas, found nothing. I think a case manufacturer is a member here though and they have a link to their site where you can request cases and modifications. Let me see if I can find them.

Yep, although if strapped to the body somehow it might not feel too bad. Would be nice to ditch the iPod altogether.

I've done some googling but can't find anything, obviously I'm the only weirdo who'd want this kind of thing.

When buying cases that have the little tiny flap in the back to help hold the folded part in place, you have to be kinda skeptical. The angle is EVERYTHING. That one looks like it will be fine.
I got this one many months ago for my mom's A100, and the angle is too high, which causes the tablet to fall over face first really easily:

Proporta BeachBuoy Waterproof Google Nexus 7 Case

Does anyone know if the touch would still work inside a case like this? And if it does then how?
I've seen several waterproof pouch cases like this for point-and-shoot cameras and smartphones. Apparently they do in fact work. As far as the screen working, capacitive touchscreens are sensitive enough to where you can press things without even touching them, so I imagine it will work just fine, but be slightly less sensitive so you may have to tap and press with a small amount of extra force.

Yeah, its the same style case and same company as the one for my Nook Color. That's why I was fairly certain it would work. The workmanship on the case is also excellent. Now I just need my N7.

Amazon has this Exact-Deal leather case for the nexus 7, 10 bucks and free shipping (not prime). It swivels between standup mode for portrait and landscape

You people that are ordering cheap leather cases where the leather runs across the front of the case, have you used these before? I bought a package for $7 for the Nook Color over a year ago, and it came with case, screen protector and a few trinkets. The screen protector was good, but the case was secured by simply folding a flap of leather under the tablet. It worked ok when it layed flat, but when it was landscape and using the stand, the case would slide down about 1/2 inch. I'll never order that style case again and IMO they look cheap anyway.

BTW, I am far from high maintenance. I just think some things are best to spend a couple more dollars to get something you won't dread using or feel the need to quickly replace.

Do you mean like this?

The one for my NC holds it tight. It doesn't slide in any position. The flap that folds under the device to hold it in also has velcro on it so it doesn't come out by itself. I hope the one for the N7 is as good.

I am waiting [and looking] for this case, for the Nexus 7. MY dad has this case for his KF, and the device fits in perfectly - and there is NOTHING covering the front of the device. It's SUCH a nice case.
As Colchiro said, I too dislike the case design with the leather running across the front edges of the device - it looks tacky, imho.

Yes, exactly like that. You can see the flap that appears to tuck under (on the bottom) to hold it in. Mine did not have Velcro.

On second thought, after watching the video, I'm not sure I like the notch the flap fits in. I'm not sure it would be that stable.

Are you referring to setting it up in landscape, with the "stand"?
I just tried it on my dad's - and it is stable enough, in my opinion. It may not be very stable on a soft surface (as he says in the video), but if you're just setting it up to watch a movie, it's good enough

Some cases came with something called velcro that can secure the tablets better in the case.

Whether the case comes with this new invention or not, they still look cheap.

I ordered a similar one to this from eBay...was only a fiver so I'm not expecting it to last too long. The problem I saw with the LuvTab one is that there doesn't seem to be any holes around the speaker, so it might make it sound a bit muffled. Also, nothing for the camera?

Sweet. I'm probably gonna get that after I get tired of the Asus/Google Branded one.

For what it's worth, I ordered this one from Kays Case yesterday.

Amazon.com: KaysCase FlipStand Leather Case Cover for Google Nexus 7 inch Tablet Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Built-in Stand and Stylus Loop (Black): Electronics

They have an interesting line of cases for the 7 that are worth checking out. I'm not really big on case construction (In fact, I've never bought a case for a device before this ever). Hoping this thing lasts a little while and that I don't end up using my 7 naked like I do with the rest of my devices (the device naked, not myself, mind you).

It was about 11 bucks with the promotional code for anyone interested.

I have this for my Fire and I love it. So the first thing I did after ordering my Nexus 7 was email Marware. Unfortunately, I was told they have no plans to make this cover for the Nexus 7. I hope that changes once they see how popular this tablet will be.
