Default To those with N7 AND GNex

Just wondering how they compare performance-wise?

I was going to get a GNex before I decided on the N7 (decided it was pointless getting both).
I have been seeing a worrying amount of comments i app reviews and such complaining the N7 is very laggy with games and some apps.

I have only tried a few games and it has been running smooth as butter but I have noticed with a lot of live wallpapers the N7 is juddery as hell when swiping between screens.

My Gnex is the smoothest phone I've used especially with JB.
Not a huge gamer so can't really comment there. They're great compliments of each other and will have the fastest updates of most Androids out there. The GSM unlocked Gnex is now just $350 if you're looking to go that route and it's a great deal.

I would have both in a heartbeat if I could. My GNex is great, and to be able to swap between the two seamlessly would be awesome.

My Gnex with JB vs my N7? nearly identical. The N7 is a tick faster.

I have both, it's hard to refuse the Nexus 7 at that price.

However, I mainly bought the N7 for use by my wife and children. They love it.

Not sure if it was just for me whether I would have both, the GNex does everything the N7 does, and more, obviously with the limitation of the the smaller screen.

Wha... wha...wha....what?!? What sacrilege is this that you speak of?!? :P

I suppose you could just get the N7 now and wait for the next Nexus phone. I would second the sentiment that the two compliment each other quite well.

Hehe :-)

Nah I just thought I would end up using both for the same stuff so decided to keep my old phone (original Nexus) for phone calls and get nexus 7 for proper, useful stuff :-)

Just kind of bothered it might not be the powerhouse it was touted to be and would I have been better off going for the Gnex?

Shaney, here is whit I have found. Having the N7 has actually made my GNex better. And not the sarcastic extended its battery life either. I'm talking about my library of over 300 apps that I have accumulated over the years. Many I bought knowing I wanted them, but were unplayable even on my GNex as a result of my fat thumbs blocking too much of the screen with on screen controls. Now I have games that are perfect for both devices. I have no problem putting down the N7 for something that plays better on my GNex or the opposite. If I get a new app or game on either my GNex or N7 and want it on the other, I just beam it over and set it up.

I have both, very little difference = I'm happy with both.

The Galaxy Nexus is still the best phone I've ever owned or used.

The N7 is like the GNex without the cell radios and a bigger (different tech) screen.

In day-to-day use, the performance difference is negligible, slightly faster on the n7. I use the gnex wifi hotspot to tether when commuting. Perfect complements.

I have both.

The N7 is clearly faster.

The GNex is very nice, very smooth. I don't really have any lag except for some specific times like immediately after I exit a memory hogging game or webpage. The brief lag will go away after maybe 2-3 seconds.

However, the N7 is like lightening. It just seems to be 100% smooth, 100% of the time.

I'm very pleased with both devices. I don't do nearly as much on my GNex now that I have the N7 - I think they compliment each other very well. The N7 is portable enough that I take it to work, use it on the sofa at home, bring it in the car on trips... but if I don't have room or don't want it, I just pocket the GNex with the comfortable knowledge that I can do pretty much everything on it that I can do with the N7.

I don't use the GNex for reading much, and I definitely don't use it for magazines. I also don't watch videos on the GNex. My N7 gets all of those tasks.

Jelly Bean on the GNex was an amazing upgrade; it's like having a new phone. I actually bought a Galaxy S3, but am selling it because I like the form factor of the GNex better, and Jelly Bean was such a huge performance improvement.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I wanted to hear and that I haven't made the wrong choice.
Though I have found it very fast and smooth, other than with the live walls.

I'm still drawn to the Gnex though. The missus has a Galaxy S3 and it runs like greased lightning but it's just not the same as proper android :-)

I use live wallpapers sometimes and I agree it appears to slow the system a little. But I never see any lag between screens. Might be time for a system wipe and reinstall. Ugh!

I have both. Unlike the others my gnex feels faster/smoother and has a more vibrant screen. I like the nexus 7 for sure but if I would have preferred Samsung made it. Still...both are awesome. You can get the both for the price of one unlocked iOS device
