Default Nexus 7 3G Charging Issue

Hi Folks,

I have an issue in my Nexus 7 3G as mentioned in the subject.

The issue is that when I plug the OEM charger to the device, I can see only the charging sign. and after like 3 or 4 hours when I unplug the cable, the battery sign shoes a red exclamation mark "!" inside the battery sign and a third party battery app. shows 0% battery but the device is running as if it is normal and even when I use other chargers, the issue is still there.

I tried to unlock the device, root it, use the device till the battery die and then recharge it but nothing changed!

The only thing I didn't try is to break the screen hehehe no i'm just kidding :P

Now, I can't upgrade it to 4.2.1 as whenever I try it says the battery is not fully charged.

I appreciate your support.

Hazim

Welcome Ghamdi!

Did you just root? Have you tried another ROM to see if that makes a difference?

Wiping the battery stats might work, have you tried that?

I've not really looked at the custom ROM install process for the N7 yet as mine is still relatively new.

This will calibrate your battery though: Battery Calibration.

Google have kinda debunked the whole battery calibration thing, but I've seen devs etc say it can make a difference. No harm in giving it a go.

Sounds like some circuitry which monitors the battery voltage got latched up ... Disconnecting the battery would probably fix the problem but you have to open it up.
